Sounds like a windows file got corrupt on your 320GB. I'd do a reformat on the 320GB after backing up your data.

If it BSODs during installation then the hard drive might be going bad.

Hit F8 at boot and disable Automatic Restart (get the error).
Standard procedure for a BSoD is to run a CHKDSK before formatting LOL... may just be a corrupted file etc...

Order to try things in:

F8 -> Last Known Good Config
F8 -> Disable Auto Restart
CHKDSK /r
Windows Repair
Format / Reinstall

sounds like a 'catastrophic failure'. Can you run fixboot or any error checks on the HDD itself? ...like from a different computer, just plugging it in for temp use.

Have you tried anything with the RAM yet..taking one out..changing slots..that whole bit?

Ahh now that i didnt think about...heres another thing...everytime i used to boot up the 320giger...i used to get a message on post saying boot.ini file is missing or corrupt or something..then it used to boot up..also lately my cpu would be at 100% cpu usage with the rundll32.exe taking up whatever resource left to load my cpu..also anything id have open, when it was closed, in the running processes it would still be open and take up 100% cpu usage. I doubt..well atleast i would like to...think that its dying..its a quality drive and not old at all..im running the seagate diagnostics tool right now..i hope its pulls through....it makes no loud clicking sounds either...maybe it is corrupt...thanks everyone

EDIT: yea nullwolf..ill try those things..how do i do CHKDSK?

Ram is fine, because pc is running complete normal from my idea 80gb drive..i suspect something wrong with the drive...so lets say i need to RMA the thing..how long will it take?
