BSOD setfsb

6822 Views 18 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Asus Mobile
so I have searched and searched to try to find some way to overclock my toshiba tecra a9.

santa rosa chipset
core 2 duo T7300 @2ghz, 800mhz fsb
intel x3100 graphics
1 gig samsung 667mhz ram

only way I could see this happining was with setfsb.

my PLL is ICS9LPR501SGLF
and the closest one available in setfsb is ICS9LPR501HGLF.
when I press setfsb nothing happens for a few seconds and then I get the BSOD and the laptop restarts.

can someone please tell me how to fix this problem.
is it just that my PLL is not right or is my ram no good.

Is there any way to overclock this laptop?

Not really.

Be careful with SetFsb because it overclocks the whole system, CPU, GPU & RAM.

I'd advise against overclocking your laptop if its not supported by SetFsb
By the way, I emailed the person who makes setfsb and I asked for my pll to be supported. I gave all the info required but he said my email was rude and that he would not support me.

Also a few days later he put up the new message which you can see for you self on the setfsb website about no support for a while because of unpolite people.

do you want me to post the emails I sent?
Yes!

Do the clocks report correctly? How much are you pushing?

therefore, i stop supporting for a while.

Lol epic
setfsb is not a good overclocking software
People need to consider not posting unless they have something to say that helps?

Hello

I also have my own website, and when people contact me about it I prefer they just get straight to the point.
That is what I would consider polite. I assumed you would be very busy so I got straight to the point in the email I sent you.
I am sorry if I have offended you. Although I did say "please" in my email, which I believe is polite.

Thanks anyway.

I wont post the replies since it would be rude.
But I can tell you that the complaint he had was the fact that my email had no greeting. All I can say is if anyone wants their pll supported they should send a formal email. Don't do what I did.

Also the clocks do report correctly.
The same thing happens even if i just change a few mhz.

There really is no "good overclocking software" for the cpu imo. Its really Bios or nothing. Either way, heat is a huge issue with laptops; wouldn't recommend it.

I have no problem with heat. I don't mind breaking the laptop, I just want it overclocked.

so far the only program that has done anything is memset.
Are there any other good programs?

one more thing, could it be that my hard drive can't handle the overclock?
Could that be a reason for the blue screen with setfsb?

no, your trying to make the pll run off of a wrong code causing a bsod, same concept as running 2 completely unmatching sticks of ram that bsod
OK from what I learned from the ClockGen FAQ's. When you don't know the PLL if you get the right family clocks display. So have you gone through all the ILLxxxxxx PLL's? Or you could always open up your notebook to get the PLL?

I did open up my notebook.
The PLL is :
ICS9LPR501SGLF

Also the website says clocgen will be back soon.
The older versions of clockgen dont work with my laptop.
I will wait for the next clockgen release.
