Hey guys, so just putting together a small build thread of the "history" of my 650D as as my HTPC as well as a home media server.

Its been in operation so far for about 6-8 months, The ultimate goal of the build was to be the most power efficient as possible but im planning on adding new parts over time to help improve its space and maximizing its performance to power usage "balance".

Just putting this thread together for now, will try and elaborate more on the thread on a later date

CPU: i3 2100 @ Stock
Mobo: Asus P8H67-M EVO
Memory: Avexair 1600 ddr3 4GB (2GB x2)
HDD: OCZ Vertex 60gb + 3x Samsung f4 2TB (raid 5)
GPU: Onboard (HD3000)
PSU: Corsair CX430
Case: Corsair 650D (+ 3rd HDD cage)
Cooler: Corsair A70 (fanless)

Extras:
Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech K400
OS: XBMC
PCI: Dlink DWA-556 Wireless N

Upcoming Upgrades:

Oct/Nov:
CPU: i3 2100 (Post)
HDD: 2x 1.5 TB (raid 1)

Future Upgrades:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 + OCZ Nocti NOC-MSATA-60G SSD
HDD: 1-3 Samsung f4 2tb (expand raid 5)
Extra: Possible Raid card (raid 1?)

Hey guys, so here some new pics now that ive moved into my new apartment

, Upped the memory from 2gb to 4gb and added the 3rd HDD cage to bring total hard drive cap to 9

Me and the GF have finally found a keyboard we like

(k400) after trying the lenovo, dinovo and a few others, this seems to be a good medium of small yet still "pc" like.

mmm, its not 100% on that board but ive been able to get the best power savings on asus boards, but im thinking of expanding to multiple raid cards in the long term future and my GF has expressed interest in the possibility of multi tuner cards sometime (next year i guess? @[email protected] ) , so was looking for a board with lots of options and possibilities

I see. Keep in mind Gen3 model for P8Z68-V Pro is coming out soon, PCIe 3.0 can be really helpful to future RAID card.

oh wow, didnt know they had a gen3 model coming out. Definialy going to be keeping my eye out for that.
