So as im new here and trying to increase my postings. i have decided to build a custom pc with my current setup and extra stuff i have laying around

Firstly i will be using the M59 by NZXT since i recently acquired a second one to replace my orginal case.. (which had scratches and a big dent on the top from a rogue item the cat knocked over)

so my plan is to use the crap case and kind of rebuild it up to a good look..

this is the manufacturers image of course. just for reference.

i havent taken pictures of it since the giant dent but these are the original images when it was fresh out of the box.

(im not trying to spam the images too much so sorry if they are small. )

the color of the case is going to be the same color as the following picture which is a car my father is working on and had extra paint.

my question is. when i work on the front panel what would be some good suggestions for it? my plan was to paint the inserts white and the plastics the same as the main case frame. the blue. i am just reaching for suggestions right now. also my current setup is what will be in this case.. which is this......

once ive gotten the general paint and body of the case completed i will be looking into a bigger fan to replace the side glass fan and creating a custom filter for it similiar to the stock one they provided in the plexi. alos debating on cutting the two fan ports on top and putting plexi there as well.. but i like the idea of future watercooling so i may not do that.

again suggestions are welcome

This project has been abandoned due to LIFE :/ hopefully in the near future i can start this back up or start a fresh build but at this point it is unaffordable good luck to all and thanks for the support

haha no mate you're fine, I was just thinking about this guy a while back, http://www.overclock.net/t/1347005/win-your-ultimate-rig-12-rigs-total/2770#post_19542109

Anyway for your case you could have a look at getting some acrylic laser cut to craft a new front face, it's my favourite material. another method that is great for forming shapes is making the base form out of paper and then using bondo over it, many people do this to make iron man costumes etc, ant it turns out pretty well like this http://www.instructables.com/id/BECOMING-STARK-An-in-depth-tutorial-on-making-Iro/?ALLSTEPS

ah pepakura... ive seen that with halo costuming and such.. i think i know what you mean. i was thinking about that actually.. im looking into what other NZXT front plates use the same chassis (gamma does for sure) and seeing if i cant find a better template to start with.. ill be doing the chassis painting the next available non humid day. where i live has been raining for a week now and even when its not its still humid as hell. also i have to find paint to match my chassis.. my father informed me that if he sprayed that plastic with the auto paint it would probably melt. so now i have to find plastic enamal that is relatively close to the color we are using on the chassis..

Development and planning stages 5/7/2013

So im in my development and planning phase currently since im waiting on a good day to work on the chassis and then i have to figure out what i want to do about the front panel... since the front panel of the M59 is wavy im starting to lean towards tossing it and creating a front panel from scratch.... i have my dimensions just not sure on the fabrication of the plastic.. *doh* ill have to do some research.

the main point of my mod is to create a custom case.. not just a paint job
smile.gif
and since im too broke for watercooling im trying to avoid just a custom paint job thread.. i want custom even if the actual computer components are stock

The chassis in its current state

You can see where the rogue object dented teh corner... at first i thought it was nonrepairable but i was informed otherwise
smile.gif
great donor chassis in my opinion though may not be a Full tower but for a mid tower it will do nicely probably going to cut out the middle section between the hard drive bays and the cd drive bays. also i plan on adding a shroud that seperates the bottom portion of the case and top portion. only to hide the non modular power cable and 8 pin cable. there is something else i want to do with the seperation portion but i dont want to give away the surprise
biggrin.gif

ll be sketching a design in the next few days for the front panel. and then ill be going at it to make it happen. i also got inspiration from another build i saw so the lighting in the case will be very unique to itself and will benefit me later when i upgrade it to water-cooling. also ill be ordering from Lutro0 some white paracord for my Raidmax 850Ae Psu so this will be my first attempt at sleeving as well

everyone bear with me please..

that laser cut stuff your talking about what kind of funding would it require and do you have a recommended source for it? i was looking into it but i dont even know where to start on that stuff... or is it something i could do myself?

I'm in australia and I was looking at using these guys HERE for a project, I haven't actually done it yet so I don't know the prices, It usually depends on how much cutting needs to be done, It usually time based so the longer it takes the more it costs. basically draw up what you want done with dimensions and send it in to them and they'll take care of all the machining stuff and give you a quote, You should expect to pay $25-$200 and up depending on how complex the job is and how thick the acrylic is as thicker stuff takes longer to cut. Also some places that supply acrylic can sometimes laser cut it for you too.

If you have a laser cutter you can do it yourself but I doubt you have that kind of stuff, otherwise you could get a scroll saw for $100 or so and cut it yourself with that but it won't leave the edges clear like laser cutting so you'll have to sand and file it down and then run a flame along the edge to get it glossy.

i see. well ill look into it. i still havent found a viable solution to creating a whole new front bezel. i might get a frame with the mounting pins and build off it. do maybe the bondo method and what not. i love the acrylic look and if i had the money i would buy the tools to do it hah . im hoping after i get the case all sorted out i can start saving for watercooling or maybe a company or group will pick my mod up and donate the goods to make a looped system.. i have ideas for it though jsut wait it will get WAY better

Concept work update

So i went out and looked at other cases and found some ideas that inspired me.. a few things that inspired me was the front fan setup
The Cooler-master cases look really nice and i wanted something simple .. soo... i photoshopped what my concept for the front panel will more than likely look like.(at least close to it) ... if i can figure out the molding process
smile.gif

ALSO i went and ordered my white paracord from lutro0 i may end up having to order either blue or black by the time its done and said..

So without further ado... Concept work....

this will just be an idea i will work on

of course so much more can be done on top of this idea...

Disassembly of case and prep work on front bezel mod

So its been a few days so sorry i havent updated this thread much ive been busy (crawfish boils and the such
tongue.gif
) so today was a really good day to get some of the initial work out of the way while i wait on some stuff to arrive in the mail. Currently on its way is two sapphire 5770's (reference PCB) , Some lutro0 customs paracord in white. and i am still gonna need to find some NZXT 140mm fans. But thats much later down the road.

anyways onto todays work:
Basically i cut the entire center section out of the front plate and will be putting a wooden form inside and building the sidewalls up with resin and body filler. ill be bringing the walls up flat instead of wavy and the center of the front bezel will house some plexi.. there will probably be more to this as i go but for now thats the plan..

so with that cut ill be working on the form over the next week and a half or so.

so i removed all the pop-rivets and took the case apart. my idea was to remove the two bays uder the cd rack and move the center hard drive bay up into the cd rack. to make more room down below. i think it turned out ok. i will be doing the sanding in afew days after the shop has been cleared. then the beginning stages of getting all the metal parts primed and painted the blue will begin..

again sorry for the slow progress im hoping once i have the case ready for paint and the bezel built up a finished product will come quicker..
smile.gif
im just ready to get the sleeving work out of the way
biggrin.gif

anyways thanks for the few subbers
smile.gif
ill try to be as quick as possible on my next update :

Oh...this takes me back. I had two M59 cases, of which one was sold after a year and the other was an AMD build for my brother a few months ago. Ive always like the build of these cases, and seeing you mod it has compelled me press the subscribe button. Awesome work.
