Here is my first build log. I have built several systems, but none of this magnitude or amount of work. This will be my first watercooled build but I have high hopes for it. I figure if I'm going to do it I'm going to do it right.

The general theme of this is the ROG color scheme of black/red/white with an LED midplate. I know there is a million and one builds like this. However, I love the ASUS and the ROG color scheme. ASUS parts have always been solid for me and when I saw the Maximus VI Formula I had to have it.

Current Part list:)
Case: Corsair 900D (Received)
Mobo: ASUS Maximus VI Formula (Received)
CPU: Intel i7 4770k (Received)
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT 1866 (Got tighter timings, better for gaming) (Received)
HDDs: 2x Samsung 840 pro 256 Gb SSDs in Raid 0(Received)
GPUs: 2x EVGA GTX 780s (Received)
PSU: Corsair AX1200i (Received)
Water blocks: EK Supremacy + Full cover GPU blocks (Received)
Radiators: Black Ice GTX 480 x2 (Received)
Fittings: EK Black Nickel (Received)
Pump: D5 (Received)

Besides the plans for the midplate I don't have any big modifications planned for the case. I want to keep the outside as clean and simple as possible. I am trying to avoid anything in the bays.

Final Images!

First pictures of the mobo. This thing looks so amazing!

In no way am I a photographer, nor do I have a good camera. So this will serve as a teaser of what's to come

So after 5 1/2 hours of sleeving and making cables I finished my first 24 pin. Was late at night when I finished so I just snagged a picture of it with my phone

Here is what it looks like in the case. I need to train the wires a bit more to make it look better and stay straight

I have stripped out the case to get to the IO panel so I can sleeve all of those cables

Here is the IO panel once opened and all the cables I get to sleeve now.

Should hopefully get to start sleeving those tonight. If not I'm going to have a big sleeving session this weekend.

Looks cool... and man is that a big case! I'll be watching this.

Hope it all goes well.... and nice sleeving

Got my IO panel sleeved tonight

Sadly after I got it all back in I was messing with bending the USB 3 at the mobo end it popped out of the heatshrink....

At least it is at the mobo end so it is easy to just redo the heatshrink.

Sub'd for another 900D build

Btw, you planning on getting the EK MVIF block (and not use the stock aluminum)?

If they release it I will for sure switch over to it. Just waiting for them to announce.

Wasn't happy with the sleeve job on the USB 3 so I redid it, rather than just putting new heatshrink over it. I originally had both cables in the same sleeve, that was a bad idea. So I split it like I originally wanted to. I also sleeved the audio cable, I had skipped that before.

While I wait for more parts to arrive I decided to do what I could with what I had. I decided to mount the res. I was hoping to use the holes for the mobo stand offs to mount it. I could with the bottom but I would need to drill a hole for the top.

Let's get to drilling and hopefully not scratch up the case.....

Success!!! I made it out clean! Here it is with the res mounted

I also got more stuff today to begin working on the light box! Just waiting for the acrylic to arrive and I can start on it.

So I tried a couple different orientations for the 24 pin. I did over and under. Here is a comparison of the two

Over seems a bit messy, I tried training the wires and making them straight but even still it still seemed a little cluttered. Going behind the res seems a bit more clean. I do love the sleeving and think it needs to be showed off but I like it a bit more clean.

Once everything else is in I think it will help accent a whole lot more. Wednesday is when my rads come, still unsure about the date for some other things.

Here is what it looks like with all the other wires I have done.

Starting to come together. I've having to be patient while I wait for everything. But this week I can hopefully get the lightbox assembly done and have that to show

I think I prefer the 24 pin going into the cutout closest to the mobo.

Also I think it will look much better when it's finally installed since I imagine you'll take the time and make sure they wires are poking out and overlapping and instead are even and side by side.
Almost exact route i'm going down with the motherboard color theme. Love the braiding color on the psu wiring, i really didn't want to go down the route of modding my psu but you've changed my mind

Subbed for sure, but I agree, go with the original 24pin layout.
Subbed! Love the color scheme! That sleeving looks great. I think if you run clear coolant, you'll see the mobo cabling behind the res (depending on lighting of course), so that may influence how you want to run that cable. Who knows, it could look awesome.

This thing is going to be gorgeous. I might have to steal your color pattern for the sleeving though.

Nice and clean. Love the design on the sleeve. If you are using mdc-x sleeving, is it red or color-x? I am trying to decide what is the best match for an upcoming ROG build.
While i normally prefer the look of the 24pin and sata cables routing around the res in this situation (example), i think because of the distance between your mobo and the res it would look better going into the hole closest to the mobo tray.
I look forward to seeing more

Ya training the wires takes some time. It seemed much easier when it was behind the res. But the res will be filled with red liquid so you won't see it behind there anyways. So I'll probably end up moving it back.

Glad I could help in your decision

It takes some time but it makes it look so much better. If you can I'd suggest a fully modular PSU. It's so much easier and will cut off so much time.

It is Red MDPC sleeve. The Color-X (cinnabar) is darker than the ROG color. I was worried that it wouldn't be the right color after I ordered it but after getting it, I think it goes really well with the ROG scheme.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it.
