Well after a fair bit of nagging from friends I finally decided to create one of these build log thingies.<br><br>
Not all parts have arrived yet but majority of which are expected to arrive in the next week or so with the exception of the motherboard block which may take longer.<br><br>
Please ignore my bad photography skills and/or grammatical errors. (Although I do like constructive criticism)<br><br>
Specs:<br><br>
CPU : i7 3930k, I ended up with 2 of these somehow from a previous friends build. I will be trying out each to see which is better <img alt="smile.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>

SLEEVING : 60+metres of Modsmart Kobra UV Blue / Modsmart Kobra heatshrink (Every single cable in this build will be sleeved)<br>
FAN CONTROLLER : Lamptron Touch (8 channels , 30 watts a channel - enough to run 3 fans a channel)<br>
LIGHTING: 4 UV light bars controlled by a lamptron 4 pot inventer which will be wired so it can be turned on our off using a 22mm momentary switch. 4 x LED 5mm's for the front reservoir, again which can be controleld by the button.<br>

Unfortunately I did not have much time to work on the project today as I had other work related commitments.<br><br>
The GVANS 4 port cold cathode inverter arrived today. I was quite impressed at how light the unit is compared to other inferior brands that have large and heavy inverters that often produce a large amount of heat.<br><br>

In what little spare time I had today I experimented with a hot glue gun to see If I could create SATA 3 leads without heat shrink. Please see the photos below to see how they it turned out.<br><br>
Personally I am quite happy with them considering I've never sleeved SATA cables without heat shrink before. The Lamptron FC8 fan controller also arrived late today. At first I did not like the wiring loom as it consisted of 3 x molex connectors (often running from a single molex cable and having no effect on the controllers performance.<br><br>
However tomorrow I will be removing the molex wiring harness and will be creating my own sleeved harness that connects directly to the MOLEX PSU port o draw its power.<br><br>

I also received a large amount of sleeving and replacement molex connectors from performance pcs today. On another note can anyone please help me decide whether or not to use UV reactive fluids and clear tubing in the loop instead of distilled water and colored tubing.<br><br>
In my previous builds I have always used distilled water with 99.9 x silver strips and copper sulfate (dead water). These builds have always used normal full color tubing and have never caused any problems.<br><br>
So the two options are:<br><br>
Option 1) Use distilled water with silver/copper sulfate and colored tubing (in this case blue).<br>
Option 2) Swap over to some Tygon 3603 or similar clear tubing and use EK Coolant or similar<br><br>
It's also worth noting my build has a large koolance filter fitting immediately following the reservoir outlet which would prevent the bulk of any material and can be cleaned easily using a bitspower d-plug fitting. New Enermax Platimax 1500w PSU arrived today (had a 1350watt Enermax previously, but after some calculations I realized it would not handle such a large load)<br><br>
There are 2 PSU cutouts on the mountain mods case so worst case scenario I may need to add another PSU to the build to power it all.<br><br>
I was surprised at how quiet and small this unit is considering its output.<br><br>
In the past I have had Silverstone ST1500 / Corsair 1200ax power supplies which could become quite loud with load and were considerably larger.<br><br>

Platimax PSU's operate at 89-94% efficiency at 20-100% load which is outstanding for a PSU of this size. (It would want to for the 400USD it costs!)<br><br>
There are 6 molex power ports (small black ones) which will be arranged as follows with predominately custom sleeved cables:<br><br>
1 x custom cable for the Lamptron FC Controller<br>
1 x custom cable with 2 molex connectors for the motherboard (PCI-EX and additional power)<br>
1 x 4 molex connectors (adapted from stock cable) to power 2 x HDD hotswap bays and lighting.<br>
1 x custom cable with 2 molex connectors to power two of the Laing D5 pumps<br>

As you can see by the photos the PSU has more than enough 12volt rail to power the build <img alt="smile.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>
I was also impressed that Enermax included a secondary PSU fan that can be fitted and used to control the fan speed manually. I doubt that I will be using the fan as I do not want to manually monitor or adjust it whenever the PSU is under load. These caddies fit in a single 5 1/4' bay and can store 4 hot swappable SSD's. I am in the process of replacing the stock 40mm exhaust fan with something much quieter that produces higher CFM. That being said the fan is in no means loud but I would feel better if I was using a fan that I understood the settings / make / model .<br><br>
According to Fedex my 4 x Samsung 128gb 830 SSD's will arrive in the next few hours, I will take some more pictures then.

First two OCZ Agility 3 240gb drives are now in their new home, they will be joined by two more towards the end of the build as they are in my current PC.<br><br>
Once setup in RAID 0 using the LSI raid chip it should provide 845gb of free space for games and misc data. My syringe of Prolima PK1 Thermal paste finally arrived from the U.S this morning (can't buy it anywhere in AU). I also have some IC Diamond 24 , Cool laboratory liquid ultra, Antec formula 7 and Noctua NTH1 thermal pastes that were left over from previous builds.<br><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1074401/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1074401" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1074401/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
I may be able to do the CPU block and thermal paste today if time permits.<br><br>
It's likely I will use the PK1 paste to begin with. In the past the Cool Laboratory Liquid Ultra has stained the nickel and it is notoriously difficult to remove. I find the Antec Formula 7 is hard to spread and the NTH1 paste is really only good when working on components that require a paste that is not electrically conductive. In my opinion MX4 is a better paste than NTH1 when working with electrically conductive chips.<br><br>
If the PK1 turns out to provide bad results I will swap over to the IC Diamond paste first.<br><br>
For the GPU blocks I used MX4 but I have unfortunately run out and cant find any available locally so I have ordered it in <img alt="frown.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/frown.gif"><br><br>

These fans come sleeved in black, but the sleeving leaves much to be desired so I will be converting all fan cabling to single braid (1 per wire) if possible and soldering 3 fans to a single cable.

The 4 x Samsung 830 128gb drives arrived about 15 minutes ago.<br><br>

Next step after this is to clean up the mess and begin work on the radiators and fan wiring in preparation for next week when the case arrives.

Not much to report on today, still waiting on shipments for some items.<br><br>
However I did receive the first of two Koolance CTR-SPD24x2. These controllers allow you to run Laing D5 pumps at 24v instead of 12volt. I am expecting the second one to arrive in the next few days as the supplier only had one in stock,<br><br>
Other than that I spent the majority of todau sleeving the PSU cables . Decided to redo some of the heatsrink to tighten then ends up and make it looks like someone didnt make it in their back alleyway with duct tape.<br><br>
I will probably start on the fan mounting and sleeving tomorrow if time permits.<br><br>

I have received a few private messages regarding the ram and requests for some additional photo's<br><br>
Each 16gb set comprises of 4 x 4gb 1.5v sticks @ 2133mhz (9-10-10-30). As there are two sets the build with have 32gb of ram total.<br><br>
In my preliminary tests I have managed to achieve 2400mhz or so at 1.65v and timings in the 11 range so there is quite a bit of room there to overclock if required. Corsair certainly charge a premium for the privilege of hand picked ram modules with a price tag of $300USD per set . However considering how easy it is to overclock these chips and maintain stability makes me believe it is money well spent.<br><br>
Some friends over at Bitspower sent me over some blue themed ram blocks but I'm not sure they are compatible. The platinum series blocks have their thermal pads above the ram on the PCB instead of directly on top of each ram chip.<br><br>
Using this method heat should travel to the top of the ram stick before hitting the heat sinks and dissipating<br><br>
With this in mind i do not think the bitspower blue freezer would work very well as as it draws heat using thermal pads directly on the ram chips themselves.<br><br>

Interested in the memory overclocking and potential water cooling. 6 of my 8 sticks of Dominator GT's 1866 threw errors in memtest86. Curious if you have run memtest on yours?<br><br>
Also, I thought I understood that you couldn't have the light bar on the sticks....AND watercool them. Can you confirm that?

You are correct, to water cool them you would have to remove the entire stock cooling (light bar, top fins, sides,pads) . Admittedly I haven't tried it yet as I quite like the light bar's effects.<br><br>
When i overclocked them to 2400mhz they still had the light bar / stock heat sink attached .<br><br>
Corsair have another Platinum Kit (CMD16GX3M4A2400C9) which runs at 2400mhz @ 9-11-11-31 1.65v which is cooled by the light bar heatsink.<br><br>
This suggests to me the stock light bar and heatsinks more than enough to cool these modules @ 2400mhz.<br><br>
memtest86+ ran a few passes without errors.

Thanks for trying it. The strange part about mine was I could get 2 or even sometimes 3 successful passes before it would throw an error. If you ever get a chance to let it run overnight....do. Would love to know if that gives you different results.

Not much was achieved today besides sleeving.<br><br>
My workshop doesn't have great lighting so you will have to excuse the blurry photos, I will take clearer ones tomorrow<br><br>

Enermax Power Supplies have weird PCI-EX cables with several split wires about 2-3 inches down each cable.
