I can remember it perfectly. I was young and stupid at the time, and I wanted to buy an Alienware PC since I was tired of my slow laptop. It was mid-July when I woke up one morning with an idea: "Maybe I could build myself a computer? I'm pretty sure I could come out with something as performant as an Alienware, but cheaper". That's where it all began.

So here I am, one year and a half later, writting this post as my dream is coming to life.

I own you guys a lot, everyone on this forum. You helped me alot when I had question and you helped keeping the flame alive. I also promised a build log to a lot of people!

Can't wait to see this progress, I have the same case and similar specs. You'll love it, there's so much freaking room and amazing cable management!

Thanks! Cable management is one of the main reasons I chose this case, coming after the look!

10/12 - Making the Rheosmart Fit

There is a little flaw with the Rheosmart (not sure if it's only mine): this screw, which holds the front panel, makes contact with the little notch inside the drive bays (as you'll see in the next picture).
010ab.png

011ne.png

This causes the the controller to not sit properly in the case, making it impossible to screw in place (it's not long enough to be used with the toolless mechanism). I tried, with the help of my dad, modifying the screw, like so:
012ed.png

But that didn't work. Next thing I tried: making a little notch where the screw could sit properly:
013pg.png

And voilà! (Sorry for the blurry pic)
014vh.png

I also got rid of the extensions that connects to the original fan controller:
015vu.png

And used the spare room to route the ones that goes to the Rheosmart. I don't want to see them (they're pretty ugly) so this was perfect.

That was the very first thing I did with my 600T

Are you planning on sleeving the cables that go to your Rheosmart?

11/12 - Relocating the HDDs Cages

This one might or might not be considered as a mod to some people. I kinda consider it as one, since I saw some people ask how to remove the base under the cages.

When you remove the two cages, you're left with this plastic base right here:
017su.png

To get rid of it, you have to remove these four screws (I already removed two of them in the picture):
018tb.png

There ya go! The front of your case is now clear!

P.S. Now that I've posted all the work I did so far, updates will come as they happen.

Depends on how much money I still have when everything is done. I already blew my budget by 700$ and I didn't order the water cooling parts yet!

I contacted Lutro0 to get some custom extensions, but it was just too expensive.

Nice build

I have the same Sunbeam controller (and the same case, the T-M version though) and didn't notice the screw interfering with installation. Odd though as they must have changed the design since I got mine

I'm pretty sure the problem came from the controller I got. I just didn't feel like sending it to RMA.

I saw your build in the clubs' thread. That's a nice machine you got there!

Nice work on fixing the issue, but I would have just looked for a countersunk screw that would fit in it's place. Have no idea if it would work though.

That's exactly what we did when we modified the screw. We couldn't find any that weren't too long and the local hardware store was closed, so we had to go with what we had!

Small update: I expect to receive most of my missing parts tomorrow and my GTX 580 wednesday. Sadly, I won't be able to use any of this since I'll only get my power supply at the end of the week, IF I'm lucky!
frown.gif
My case's window is still BO and I don't know anything about my LED strips, except that they are shipped.

Expect some updates soon!
