hey guys ive decided to build myself a new rig for the new year. this is going to be a fully water cooled matx build inside the silverstone ps07 case. its primary uses are folding , 3d design, recording music, gaming and movies.

this will be a Norse Valkyrie themed build. the side and top panel will have some custom painted decals as well as i will be hand painting runes in specific locations. currently i am debating on hand painting a Thors hammer on the front bezel were the door for the front fans is or if i want to do a small Valkyrie there instead. this build will probably be slow to update after the first few days as hand painting the decals will take some time.

rads = 3x xspx ex120 radiators

primochill white 3/8th white tubing

heres what i have so far so that i can test all the hardware before i get started.

heres my current set up until i finish the modifications and customizations of some of the parts.



now that that's all done and every thing works now i can start the fun stuff.

for starters im going to be modding my rasa block, repainting the mounting hardware, mounting plate and back plate.

lapping the copper block contact surface.





gota clean the crud out of the block and fit some new orings.


all finished and nice and shiny.

started repainting the mounting plate. baking each coat of paint at 300f for aprox 1 hour and yes that is a pie plate left over from xmas.


same thing with the back plate and all the mounting hardware.




all mounting hardware finished and added 2mm washers so that the tension on the cpu block is optimal.
it took alot of testing with my old sig rig to get this down perfectly.




the finished product all reassembled.



now to start work on the rads.

start prepping for paint



the rads are currently in the baking process as i started typing this up. also i got a new camera today and the battery is fully charged now so excuse the crappy cellphone pics the rest will be alot better. i will have another update tonight as soon as the rads are done.

started off today by cutting off all the sleeving corsair had put on the power supply cables. i like the single black wire look better than sleeved but this may change.
i am debating between doing some red single wire sleeving or doing each individual wire in red instead of black.





next i installed the hard drive and the ssd. i have decided to ditch the seagate momentus. i will be saving this drive for a future build.
the majority of the cables will be contained in the odd and psu compartment of the ps07.






mounted the freshly painted and modded cpu block to the mobo with cpu installed. had to let the paint cure in room temp for 24 hours before mounting just to be sure that everything is perfect. the tim i will be using is the prolima tech pk-1. the vast majority of this build will be using 6-32 thumb screws to fasten everything together.





i will post another update later i need to run to lowes and grab a few cans of spray paint and some plexi i need to start planning my side panel. then its off to the grocery store to get things for new years dinner and the family coming over later.

after getting it all situated time to start adding the tubing.




now its time for first boot after leak testing. sorry didnt take any leak testing pics... figured it was to boring for a pic.

well it looks like the decals will have to wait my printer has decided to go belly up. hopefully once payday comes ill be able to get this finished. till then ill keep chugging along with what i can.

ok well ive started stenciling the valkyrie wings on the side panel. letting it dry now i will probably have some clean up to do with a small detail brush. ill post up some pics after shes all dry and i can peel off the stencil. im debating on leaving it white stencil on black pint or if i want to do a red outline around them.

installed the graphics card into the loop for now.



off to work for a while then i need to scrounge around through my electrical boxes and see if i have any red leds floating around. i will also be adding new pics later of the final internal assembly. i am still on the fence about sleeving the cables. if i decide not to ill post final assembly pics with the bare black wire cables.

thank you all. dont judge to harshly i am no Picasso with a paint brush but here is the start of the first decal.

the stencil


heres a few shots of the base coat for the valkyrie wings




the areas that appear fuzzy and kind of chunky are were the cardstock stencil that i made had stuck to the base coat of black.
the remains of the stencil wash off after a 24hr drying session. i just soaked it in warm water for 5 mins or so and rubbed it off with a sponge.
i forgot to take a pic afterwards, i was extremely tired when i washed off the stencil remains. this morning i started laying out the red outline on the wings. touch ups will be done after the red has finished and has dried for 24 hrs.

im debating on how i want to do the outline. do i want to leave it as just a nice bold red outline, or make it look like it was painted in blood.
im also on the fence still about sleeving the cables its a big decision as its very time consuming. after i finish the valkyrie wings on this panel i will be mapping out how and were i want the window. then comes the debate to jigsaw it out with round edges or have it lazer cut for sharp corners.

after a craptastic week and dealing with some personal stuff i finally got around to doing an update my camera was smashed so i have to use my celly.

finished the paint on the decal and side panel



finished bolting on the window and added some uchannel around the edges for a cleaner look.




pulled off the front panel and prepped for paint as well as removed the door and sanded for a smoother fit without the plastic binding.

What paint are you using on your rads? Its hard to tell from the pictures but does the paint give a 'matte' finish both look and touch when fully dried?

for the rads i just used valspaar flat white primer and did 3 light coats with no clear coat or sealer, i did the same with the cpu block. the side panel and all the decals are done with white red and black one shot sign painters paint then i use a satin clear coat from valspaar.

as far as touch goes it has kind of a smooth but still kind of rough feel as apposed to when its glossy it feels smooth like a waxed floor.

havent achieved a whole lot today i decided to raid goodwill for some spare parts. snagged a few 120g sata 3 hdds 2 sata dvd dl burners an intel core 2 duo e4300 cpu, gigabyte ga-945gzm-s2 mobo, stock intel cooler 2gb corsair xms3 ddr2 6400 cl4 ram, some spare power and dvi cables and 3 dell 1908fp monitors all for 114 usd.

i finished sanding and priming the front panel door and sprayed it flat black. i started mapping out where to place the rune for the door. taped off the first section. im letting it dry right now fully before i can move to the next section of it.

this is the only pic i took of it. i will have some more tomorrow.
