.

Edit: Yeah, im selling my computer for 450 dollers, so i say 400 because of tax and shipping. I would also like amd and something at least on par or better (prefferably) then my computer.

Edit2: What i need is:
Harddrive, processor, dvd-rw drive, motherboard, cooling, powersupply, case, graphics card, and ram, if there is anything obviouse i left out tell me.

Alright, just redid this post as I forgot to read that you were selling. For that money, it'll be hard to buy something good, but here's what I suggest:

CPU: One of the lower-end Sempron 64 chips, as they are supposed to be highly overclockable.
Mobo: Something cheap, as these things are S754, so I would reccomend one of the 754 mobos with PCIe, as it seems those cards have gotten cheap.
RAM: 512MB, as you don't have money for much more
HD: 80GB, those are cheap, but read your local ads, as occasionally I've seen 200GB WD caviars for only $40 american
GPU: 6200 vanilla, as those are cheap. The new NV44 can't unlock, but neither can most 6600LE cards. That will run you about $50 american.
Optical: DVD-ROM, those are really cheap and will let you play all of the new games.
Case: something cheap, buy a decent PSU for it.

I'm probably missing something, but that above will be a bit of a stretch. I'd say that's about $380 american, so more than $400 canadian. Have you tried hitting up your parents for advanced allowance?

Well i cant ask for an advance on my allowance because i dont get allouance, but i could probably get 500 dollers out of him so then i would have 450 to spend.

you would likely be better off if you could spend another $200 or so. with only $450 canadian you would have to buy the low end of everything. one idea is to go with onboard graphics for a while ro look on ebay for some parts. otherwise you wont see any real improvement over your current comp.

Id get higher than a 6200. Its a little underpowered especially with the 64bit bus...unless you can find an older 128bit 6200 but those are pretty rare now. Id go with at least a 9600Pro.

i agree the 9600 pro was a nice card and should be a solid card for all but the newest games. to fit that in budget you really need good deals, look for rebates, think about refurbished and ebay.

cpu-sempron should be decent

mobo-nforce 3 would be best but the via chipset should work and is cheaper sometimes.

case- hate to say it but you could look at tiger direct maybe try one with a cheap psu and hope it works for a year or two.

ram-one 512 stick of budget ram should be cheap enough( get a name brand though, like geil etc)

give us some websites you can buy from and maybe we can find some good parts.

that ram isnt very good and the uli chipset isnt great either though if its the best you can do it probably would fill your needs.

cant vouch for the mobo but it is nforce3 and msi is a decent brand. the hard drive is awesome for $40.
and i would really think about ebay for a processor and graphics card. price them at a few stores then look for a deal. you could maybe get a 6600gt for like $80 - 100 if your lucky.

Dude if you have $400, upgrade your current rig with a new mobo and GFX. Im upgrading with a Socket 754 mobo with PCIx and getting a 7800GT. You can probebly do the same unless you have like a older P4/P3/ or Athlon XP.
