Hello OCN enthusiasts! I'm back at it with the same case, and a decent bit of the same hardware, that's right, I've done quite a bit since the first set of mods of this case (which can be viewed in tn the spoiler below) and I've got more to come!<br><br><a class="bbcode_url" href="http://www.overclock.net/t/1377023/build-mod-log-white-lightning-nzxt-lexa-s-case-mod-2-0/10#post_24276563">For White Lightning 2.0, check Post 18 and onward!<br></a><br><br><a class="spoiler-link H-spoiler-toggle" href="#"><strong>Old First Post</strong> <span class="spoiler-help">(Click to show)</span></a><div class="spoiler-hidden">_______________________________________________________________<br><br>
Hello fellow OCN case modders! I'm now doing my second case mod (first one is <a class="bbcode_url" href="http://www.overclock.net/t/1363859/case-mod-black-meets-white">Black Meets White</a>). The reason for this mod is that I got my NZXT Lexa S in September 2012 and this is what it looked like.<br><br>
But now I am starting to get tired of it. I saw my friends getting Phantoms and what not and realized I love white cases. Well what better thing to do than just make my case white?<br><br>
This is exactly what I did! I also renamed my build from Blue Plasma to White Lightning!<br><br>

So far I have taken out my hardware, removed the front and sides, and painted the case white. I had some mess ups on both side panels and will be sanding and repainting both as well as touching up some missed spots on the main chassis when I get more spray paint. Here's the progress so far:<br><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381440/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1381440" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381440/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381441/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1381441" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381441/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381442/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1381442" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381442/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381444/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1381444" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381444/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381445/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1381445" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1381445/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><br>
Currently I have blue acrylic mounted on the side panel in place of the stock smoked acrylic. I plan to replace this with clear acrylic.<br><br>

Update #1: Sanding and HDD Bay<br><br>
I have sanded all the parts of the case that need to be repainted and I should be able to get everything painted tomorrow as well as clear coating it all.<br><br>
As far as the HDD bay goes, well, I removed it. I only have one mechanical drive and that will be mounted in the topmost cd drive bay and my DVD in the third bay. Since I removed the HDD bay I wanted to take a piece of metal and put it in there to cover up the cables that would normally be hidden by the bays. I am also painting the visible parts of the cd drive as well as the topmost fin on my Hyper 212 Evo as well as coloring the top of the heatpipes and lettering on the top fin black.<br><br>
Pics!<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383371/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383371" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383371/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383372/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383372" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383372/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383373/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383373" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383373/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383374/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383374" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383374/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383375/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383375" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383375/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383376/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1383376" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1383376/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a>

Update: Parts installed and painted, with some LED's installed!<br><br><br>
Please excuse the random wires and hdd's, The led's are only temporarily wired in as well as the hdd's, I'll hide all the led wiring and install all of the drives later.<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1457201/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1457201" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1457201/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 375px"></a><br><br>
I also am making some plates to cover up the cd and floppy drive bays.<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1457202/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1457202" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1457202/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 667px"></a>

Hello!<br><br>
Trust me, after looking through blue acrylic for years, it doesn't look as good as you think. I want to clearly see my components, I'm going to stick with clear acrylic.

<b>Belated Update!</b><br><br>
The current status of the right side of my pc:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553519/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553519" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553519/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a><br>
Because.........The side panel is being painted.......again.......properly this time <img alt="biggrin.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br>
Also drilled a mounting hole to secure the lower plate that will help stealth my drive cages:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553525/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553525" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553525/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553527/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553527" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553527/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a><br><br>
And its done:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553528/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553528" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553528/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
Now to sand down and take the sharp edges off both of the plates:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553532/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553532" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553532/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553533/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553533" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553533/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
And there they are, painted and installed!<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553543/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553543" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553543/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a><br>
Sadly the screwdriver slipped as I was securing the lower plate and it knocked off some of the paint, I'll have to repaint it.<br><br>
So the before and after with stealth plates is:<br><b>Before:</b><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553542/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553542" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553542/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a><br><b>After:</b><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553543/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1553543" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1553543/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 467px"></a>

Another update in this ghost town of a thread:<br><br>
The right side panel is finished!<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1556826/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1556826" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1556826/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
Just so you guys know, the other side panel is gone, I've decided to just put in a big piece of clear acrylic on the side of the case. Don't know when I'll get said acrylic.

Do you people know how bad it feels to actually put some work into a case and get no views but then see threads posted in the Mod Log seciton that are actually just really expensive build logs get views and replies everyday?<br><br>
Same thing with MOTM, mods that are more builds than mods win.<br><br>
Its just a shame...........

I suspect its like anything else. All the established parties get all the following. <img alt="whistle.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/whistle.gif"><br>
I suggest mod because you enjoy it any other reason would be silly. <img alt="biggrin.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br><br>
Looks like the new paint job came out well. <img alt="thumb.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/thumb.gif">

This is my mouse ($10 Logitech M100 with the little modded button)<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579427/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579427" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579427/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579428/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579428" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579428/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579429/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579429" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579429/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
The tape on the bottom is to make the mouse feet more smooth for my mouse pad, it is not for structural rigidity <img alt="biggrin.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br>
This is my mouse taken apart<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579430/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579430" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579430/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579431/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579431" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579431/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579432/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579432" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579432/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
This is my mouse sanded and ready to be painted!<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579433/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579433" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579433/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579434/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579434" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579434/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579436/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579436" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579436/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><br>
As you can see I haphazardly sanded that Logitech sticker and covered the hole for the optical sensor with duck tape. This is because I don't really care about the underside of my mouse, and I didn't want to have to worry about paint buildup on the sides of the walls of the hole for the optical sensor so I just covered it all up.<br><br>
EDIT:<br><br><span style="text-decoration:line-through;">I'll update this post as soon as I can!</span><br><br>
It's finished! Looks pretty good too!<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579499/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579499" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579499/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579500/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579500" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579500/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579501/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="1579501" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1579501/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 263px"></a>

<div class="bbcode_center" style="text-align:center;"><b><span style="font-size:36px;">White Lightning 2.0</span></b></div>
<br>
So this is where the 2.0 starts! It's basically been two years since I've done any mods on this case, and I've barely swapped any hardware since then. However 2 months ago I decided it was time to change a few things. I was unhappy with the performance of just one 7950 so I opted to buy a second on eBay, and found that the heat and power usage was horrendous.<br><br>
So a month ago I decided I'd do a bit of a revamp on the case and grab a new gpu and some watercooling too!<br><br>
Keep in mind that this case was never intended for even the slightest bit of watercooling, this was a budget case when it was made, and not a very popular one either! That wasn't going to stop me, especialy since most of my work was already done, most of the 3.5" HDD bays were gone, so I removed the rest, and chopped out the bottom section of my 5.25" bays.<br><br>
As you can probably tell, I'm not going to just smack a skinny 240mm rad in the top and then mount fans on top of the case (as there is literally only enough room for the thickness of a fan or skinny rad between the mobo and the top of the case), I'm instead opting to to jam a 60mm thick 240mm EK rad in the front of the case, where there's enough room for it, and a push pull fan setup.<br><br>
My idea for watercooling at the moment is sort of weird. I wanted to spend the money that I had available on as many permanent good parts as I could, and then use the rest on some good enough temporary parts.<br><br>
After about $300 this is what I had come up with (not including the load of corsair fans I bought and other little bits here and there):<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546371/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="2546371" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546371/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 281px"></a><br>
The only temporary parts are the junk tubing, and xspc dualbay pump and res.<br><br>
In the near future, my shiny new EVGA 980Ti SC will get a shiny new EK waterblock, and some more shiny new bitspower fittings along with some decent tubing to replace what I've got.<br><br>
But before I get ahead of myself, I gotta show that I finally did a much needed respray of my case, as there has been a LOT of dust and even chocolate milk that's got on and in this case. Looks pretty now though!:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546386/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="2546386" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546386/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 430px"></a><br><br>
And here it is the second after it was all put together for the first time (with the horrible 7950 CF setup)!:<br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546387/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="2546387" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546387/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 393px"></a><br><br><a class="H-lightbox-open" href="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546374/"><img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="2546374" data-type="61" src="http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2546374/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL" style="; width: 500px; height: 281px"></a><br><br>
I realize that the mobo is really dusty (liquid electrical tape really attracts dust), and everythings not totally perfect, but It's just going to get mostly ripped apart when I get my gpu block.
