Build Question

366 Views 11 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  graphicsman
I am building a computer for my friend. He is wanting something kinda similar but he said he would like it not as big as mine. I had some ideas, but i ran accross something i was curious about. I was going to run Nvidia 780i mobo, 8 gigs of RAM with a GTX 260 and Antec Signature 850 power supply.

My question is, will this fit in an Antec 300?? It is a midsize case, i do know i will have to get fans for the front for the hard drives. So what you guys think??

I am not sure about the 300 antec but likely won't fit in a mid size case, and/or it would be so limiting in space for future upgrades.
Moreover what kinda of antec case? the tower or the minuet? There's a big difference a matx like the latter won't fit that mb let alone gpu card.

As for an atx antec 300 tower it would fit.

and my friend liked what i had, so he said he would like me to build and tell him a price on what i have, but with a smaller case, because he is tight on space, so i thought of the 300, but he doesnt like the the side view port.. so im curious

How about getting a Cooler Master 590 case? It has good airflow and excellent cable management.

Fry's has it with ground shipping for only $10.70 vs Newegg's $18.99 for ground shipping.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Antec 300 but it's not as roomy as I'd like. The Cooler Master 590 or 690 are also cases with awesome airflow.

What's your budget?
no budget at the moment, but i dont want to blow my wallet if you know what i mean, i really dont want to go with the cooler master, id like to stick with a company that i know i can get a good product from, something simple in a case as well, thats why i chose the antec 300, if i can keep the temps down for it. Also, this is a design computer for a friend, so i doubt there will be alot of games involved.

so with that thought, will the antec 300 work ok??? i do plan on putting the hard drive fans in it
Cooler Master makes solid cases. The Cooler Master 590 and 690 are both cases with high-end airflow at good prices. They're also bigger than the Antec 300.

For a power supply, might I suggest Corsair? Have a look on Newegg. The Corsair power supplies are solid.

Both of these are about the same price as the one you linked earier

I like the 2nd one most.
the cooler master 590 looks like a good case for the price, i might go that route, but will this power fit in it??

also, will it be enough to run a 500 watt graphics card, im also running a 95 watt CPU with 8 gigs of ram, id think not becaus the power supply is 700 watts, and no upgrade
