Hey Guys, sorry if this is in the wrong section I didn't know were to post it.

A few days ago I decided that I was going to upgrade my PC in a few ways.
Keeping the mobo, cpu and ram while upgrading the gpu, psu and case.
I made this build for about $500 (560Ti, 900w and the cooler master 430 elite)
It was nice and cheap but then I though I might as well go Sli and then I got a bit worried about the cooling so I got a bigger, cooler case, better cooler etc and It got quite expensive seeing as though it had two 560's in it and so I got some help from the interwebs and decided I'd get a 580 did some research, and here I am now unable to decide to get a 580 and then upgrade when I need to or get two 560's and thats it.

I was wondering could you guys discuss which would be better and/or make a build for me thats under $1000. I'll be keeping my i7 920, 6gb ram and mobo for now. So you'll just need to find the best gpu, psu, cpu cooler, case and possibly hard drive.

tl;dr 580 v 570 v 560 Ti SLI
Build me awesome pc for as cheap as possible (doesn't need mobo, ram or cpu)

Thanks,
Josh.

the basic answer is: the 560Ti Sli is faster than one 580, but it uses more power. SLi is good with micro-stutter so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. both choices should OC well.
Oh, and about the 570, it's a great card, but the performance isn't up to the other two options. I would go with that if you don't need the extra power and want to save some money.

Good choice. I made the 580GTX my choice because I really wanted to get a future proof GPU. It also depends on what you're going to do with your system. If you're a gamer, those 560ti's should last for later games, but not as many as the 580GTX's (like mine, with 3Gb of VRAM, which is an enormous amount of overkill right now...but who knows what the future will bring us
). But if you're just going to do the usual stuff and play the games that will come out before this year's end, you'll be just fine with 1 or maybe even 2 560ti Hawk editions
, enjoy!

Oh nice
I worked my a** off during the vacation xd and bought all my candy myself... Lucker :d

One side note about SLI: SLI works great with recent games, but it might not give a better result than 1 GPU of the same kind when playing older games. A good example is Oblivion: un-patched = great bugs to get advantages with (hehe), but SLI doesn't increase the performance much/at all. I believe when you install all the official patches (unofficial ones might help too) you'll be able to get more performance out of SLI
. Just check if the games you play support SLI well enough to make a profit out of it. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. The problem that you pointed out shouldn't effect me too much as I'll be playing games like bf3, crysis, assorted cods and wc3.
But I will check for problems to do with my older games.

Thanks,
Josh.
