Alright here are my specs:
DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert Socket 939 NVIDIA nforce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHZ FSB Socket 939 Processor

2x Kingston ValueRam 512 MB 184 Pin DDR SDRAM 400 PC 3200 (Already have it so that can't change)

eVGA 256-P2-N515-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Desktop PC

XION Black XION II Xon-103 SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W power supply

Hitachi Deskstar 7k80 80 GB 7200 RPM Sata 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Basically I'm wondering if there are better or cheaper parts I should be buying and if all my parts are compatible. I want this computer to be very upgradable which is why i'm getting the SLI motherboard and whatnot. The computer is used only for gaming which is why the HD is so small. If there is a better part for around the same money I'd like to know. Will the processor bottleneck the video card? Thanks for the help.

If this is the wrong place to post this let me know.

I would suggest getting a better PSU, high end systems need very stable power supplies. Fortron makes great PSUs, and the ePower Puma II is pretty good, too. It's $46.50 at NewEgg.

If you want that DFI board, the RAM will have to change. Sorry.

What am I supposed to be looking at? I see that kingston is not recommended but does that mean it can't be used?

Chances are you'll end up buying all your stuff, and it won't boot because of the Kingston Value. It may work, but the odds are against it.

Is this the case with all DFI boards? Is the ram I have useless? Is Corsair Valueselect good with DFI?

Alright I think i'm going to get a 1 gig stick of G.Skill 184-pin DDR SDRAM 400: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231046

and an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103533

I can't decide if I should the DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D or the SLI-DR. Any thoughts? I've read many opposing viewpoints regarding the affordability of upgrading via SLI opposed to just buying a new card when the time comes around. The SLI-DR board is like 30 dollars more.

It seems you're chosing your RAM based on a smaller budget which is what I did when I built my rig. I bought some Corsair value RAM and truly regret it. If you want to overclock your CPU at any time in the future, your value RAM is going to hold you back from getting the most of your CPU. If you could some how save about 150 for some OCZ platinum rev2 (2x512), you would be in good shape to overclock at 1:1 fsb. Just my 2c!

Have fun with that 7800 GT, can't wait to get one of my own!

Alright boys and girls, things have changed so I have a new plan. I'm selling my current rig and upgrading slightly but not completely. Please tell me if these parts are compatible and if I will be able to run BF2 on high settings:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103535
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130267

That's a chaintech VNF4, an AMD athlon 64 3200+and an eVGA Geforce 6800gs 256 mb.

I need recommendations on ram, I want to run 2x512 dual channel but i know the chaintech mobo is picky and I can't find a compatible and affordable choice. Is it possible for me to use my kingston valueram?
