Hi all, new to the forum and was looking for some advice on selecting a motherboard for my first build. My aging alienware laptop (I was young and stupid) recently died, and my atom based asus netbook isn't quite cutting it. I figured now was a good time to build my first rig, and am looking for some advice. I feel like I have narrowed my choices down to

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with these boards? I plan on mild doing mild oc with air cooling.

I have been slowly piecing together parts as deals come up, I have a haf 912 and an xfx xxx 650watt ordered, and am getting ready to finalize the rest of the build.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask it, but currently 2x4g of gskill sniper is on sale for 75 at newegg, and I am debating getting it. Anyone have any thoughts on this while you are here?

Agreed. With the 45 you get a 1394, nearly the same board.

Any sense upping the price range? I have never built my own system and am not quite sure what to look for in a mobo. Those seem like a good value at that price point, as they are x8/x8 if I plan to crossfire/sli in the future. I don't have a huge budget, but if it is actually worth it I could spend a bit more.

you're board selection is fine.
Skip the "military class" components unless you just want the ability to say "I have a military class motherboard" lol

I haven't really been able to look at the details of those boards, but I urge you to take a look at this guide about vrms. Evidently a bunch of people have been frying low-end boards with OC'ing recently.

Other than that, yeah I think you're okay. Sata 6, USB 3, and it mentions crossfire in the documentation, but no SLI - might want to double-check on that one. No sense on spending hundreds more than you need, provided your requirements are met.
