I quit PC gaming. So I'm building a media desktop that could play a video game if I wanted to indulge.

I need a monitor too but that will come once I start building the PC.

So far I have a keyboard, mouse, speakers and a headset.

MOBO: ASRock FM2A85X-ITX $139.99
CPU: A10-5800K $124.99
Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo $34.98
RAM: G.SKILL TridentX 8GB 2400MHz Cas 9 $96.99
PSU: Seasonic X-400FLII $119.99
HDD: WD Blue 1TB $67.99
Case: Bitfenix Prodigy M-iTX in Midnight Black $79.99
Total: $664.92

I know the PSU is a bit excessive but I'm a nazi with PSU's.
And the RAM is crazy because I heard that the APU is very RAM dependent

I probably will be computerless for a few months waiting for AMD to release the next generation of APUs.. But is this a good base to build off of?

This looks like a good build. There is a decent review over at Legit Reviews of the effect of ram speed with Trinity chips. Actually, they use the exact one you are getting, the A10-5800k...

Testing Memory Speeds on AMD's A10-5800K Trinity APU

The only other thing I would suggest is to find a way to get a SSD in there at least for the OS. Good luck with the build though
