I am getting ready to build a new system and I am going SLI. I need to know which mobo is the best for SLI.Here is the system I plan to build, and if you have any ideas of what i could do diffrent or diffrent parts I should use please post them.

Amd Athlon 64 FX-55
Sli mobo-Cant decide on one
1 Gb Kingston HyperX Ram(Not sure what brand of Ram to get, heard good things about OCZ and Mushkin but im not sure.)
WD Raptor
BFG Nvidia 6800GT-probably just one at first and add another later
Thermaltake Tsunami Case
Antec 480-500 Watt PS

As I said I just cant figure out which mobo to use,or what Ram to use.I just want to have extreme performance without overclocking so I can go even farther when I do.I cant decide on a case either, because im not sure if there is a big diffrence in cooling between them. But please post your suggestions and help me finish this finally-Thanks
And by the way I have about $1500 to spend right now on it so keep that in mind

$1500? You do know that the FX-55 and 6800GT are going to run about $1300 by themselves, right?

No sense in crippling a good processor with a shotty video card, especially if you got SLI since they don't have AGP and a 9800 Pro is an AGP card. You'd be better off dropping the FX for a 3800 or 3500 and sticking with the 6800GT.

Well I don't really want to go too cheap with the processor because that is what I did with my current system, and I am not happy with it at all.And I really, really want to go sli but I guess I could just get a nice single card system.

stick w/ the 6800 gt PCI-E like Yiffy said for $450. maybe OCZ ram instead. an awesome psu like a OCZ powerstream 520w. yes get the raptor. what about cooling?

i agree. besides, if ur gonna get a "hold me over" at that price, get a 6600 gt. but fx 55 is not completely nessecary either. 3800+ is very nice and you can prob. get a good overclock out of it with a good heatsink make sure that one fits on the mobo you choose though, if not xp 90 is great too

I can guarantee you would not notice a difference between the two. The only difference between an FX and a normal 64 is just 512K of L2 cache anway
Well and the unlocked multipliers, but that's a load bull anyway. 6800GT is a must, and like I said, to run the 9800 Pro you'd need a different motherboard. Raptor is far from a necessaity unless you're really impatient. You can save some money on the PSU by getting a Forton 530 for $80 (godly PSU for the money) and maybe just 512MB of RAM to start off with.

I like the way that sounds. I guess that fx-55 isnt 100% necessary, right?Would this system give me good performance for the money?I know I could afford it and have money left over.Even though that is a really skimpy processor.

your ram can slow you down too you know... just a thought. but bigger IS always better, granted that you can afford it lol.

You really don't want to cut yourself short and get a 6600GT. 6800GT is a must for raw performance. a 3500 Winchester is more than fast enough for that video card.

I guess that would be okay and i dont really need to go to any extremes as far as cooling goes until i get some more money and overclock it with liquid cooling.ok lets start over.if you had 1500$ what would you buy?
