Hi there everyone!

I have my PC and I'm quite happy with it.
My Old PC (which Igave to my mum) - is a Asus P5K Premium, E6500, Asus Xonar D1, OCZ 2GB RAM
I gave this PC to my mum, but she never uses it - and when I took the PC away from her (it was sitting under a pile of stuff under our staircase) - My mum said she wanted a PC for work later.
So it occurred to me:
"Mum, why don't I build you a proper, up-to-date PC - instead of taking over an old 3yr old PC (even though nothing is wrong with it)"

So, that's my challenge now.
I want to build my mother a PC.

-Monitor wise - she has one, but I might get the monitor I have for her - the LG IPS234V
-GFX - She doesn't need one, as the intel in-built one, will be more than enough
-CPU - i3 (I don't really see the point of an i5 for her) - as all she does is use it for word, internet and skype.
-Cooler - A standard air cooler (something like the arctic pro 7 equivalent will suffice)
-Motherboard - open to any suggestions -> No OC functionalities is fine - just has to be socket 1155.
-PSU - 450 Watts should be more than enough
-Case - Either a small slender one (preferably) or a normal sized desktop PC -> due to the lack of GFX inside, I could go micro-ATX
-RAM - Either Corsair or Samsung low-profile RAM
-DVD rom
-Camera - I'll get her a Logitech Camera
Price list and products I'm researching and adding to (ideas rather than actual going-to-buy products) -UK prices only here first:
-Intel i3 3225 - £106
-Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 - £40 or the Antec 350W Basiq - £31
-Antec 620 - £48 OR might stick with the stock intel one
-ASRock Z77 Pro4-M Intel Z77 - £78 or the Asus P8H61-MX for £38
-Memory - Might be free as I have 2 Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz CL9 available - If I need to buy any though: Either the corsair linked above, or Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB @ around £50
-SSD for boot device and her old HDD of some sort as extra space - Intel 330 or Corsair Force (Would uy in america for sure) - Around £70
Better suggestion from my friend was a normal HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200 - £50
HDD with 64MB cache - 500GB - Western Digital Caviar Black - £72
-DVD rom
- £13
-Monitor: LG IPS234V
-£115
-Logitech C270 Camera
- £17
Or can get a cheaper camera: Microsoft LifeCam VX 5000

-Xigmatek Asgard ATX or the Fractal Design Core 1000
- £30

So far Total is around:
-£402 without monitor or RAM
-£452 without monitor
-£570 with everything

This is ALL UK prices apart from the SSD
Cost cutting can come from:
-CPU = £20 saving
-RAM = £20 saving
-Camera = £5 saving

=£45 saving buying from the USA = £525 with everything
Motherboard: £87
Gigabyte Z77M-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard

Processor: £100
Intel Core i3 3225 Dual Core CPU (Socket 1155, 3.30GHz, 3MB Cache, Ivy Bridge, 55W)

Monitor: £117
LG IPS234V

Case: £30

DVD ROM Drive: £14

Camera: £18

I added a section at the bottom of my OP - of prices and some parts I did some quick researching about.
Would love some more input

The Lian Li Q07 is beautiful - but BOX isn't quite going to work - has to be a tower or rectangular small case, that can sit horizontally.
Also £85 for a case is too much for this build.

I'm quite happy with £402 without monitor or RAM - realistically, I won't have to buy her ram and would like to get her a better monitor.

OMG IT IS SO CUTE!!!
So far the only problems I have experienced are both relating to the Fractal case:
1. The case doesn't properly allow cable management behind the motherboard.
2. The most annoying thing: It is built for mATX...yet the motherboard holes at the edge of the motherboard are not even present....meaning when jamming in that ATX power...felt almost liek I could have snapped the motherboard, if I hadn't put my finger and wedged it between the motherboard and case.

EDIT:
Updated the OP with pictures, and re-organised the OP to make it look cleaner!

Brilliant card, terrible software.
Do yourself a favour and get the pcie version of the card the xonar dx.
You can buy something cheap like the DG which is quite good for bang for buck
