Can you burn a CD or DVD using the battery power or should it only be done with the charger plugged in?

Just curious. Still learning with new laptop. Sager NP2096. Gotta say the manual that came with it (CD) sucks. Barely any helpful information for first time laptop owners.

With AC power I'd say.

A lot of laptops go into power save mode when unplugged and down clock the CPU so it would definitely be quicker burning with AC power

he asked if you can do it with battery, not whats best

and burning is not really that cpu-intensive, especially when most laptop burners are slow already

edit:
the speed is affected more by the hard disk speed and the speed of the burner than the CPU

I do not see why anyone could NOT burn a CD/DVD with the laptop on battery only. I have done it numerous times. This dell laptop (E1705) has been doing it since 2006 and has never had a problem...like the other posters have stated watch your battery level while doing so to ensure you don't run out of juice before its done.
