Which on should i get? my budget is about $200-$300. Looking at the GS it seem like a card for "best bang for your buck". It can also be overclock. I dont want to OC anytime soon but might be in the future. Looking at pricewatch i can get a 7800 GT 256mb PCIe for $285. Obviously you guys gonna say go for the 7800 GT since it fit the budget and newer. I want to know if the card is worth the money (best bang for your buck)?

When buying one, which brand should i go with (link to store would be nice)? XFX, eVGA, MSI, Leadtek, etc.... i dont care about extra software bundle since most of them bundle with FPS games and i dont play those games. i play mostly online games (Guild Wars), strategies games (Age of empires III, empire earth, etc.), and adventure games like Price of Persia. I'm looking for quality in the card (product life and overclocking capability), good customer service, and warranty. Let me know what you guys thinks.

Thanks.

first of if i am correct on this the gs is an AGP card right? and the gt is a pcie? or have i the wrong information? coz if its right u wont be able to use either one....unless u have a dual vga slot meaning 1 for pci and the other for agp which I have never heard of but cannot be sure since ur details are not filled...

go around and fill ur system specs up under cp

The 6800gs comes in AGP and PCI-e, the agp version can unlock pipelines. The pci-e version can overclock to hell and back usually.

The 7800gt is a great choice if your willing to spend up to 300$, it will beat out the overclock gs. If you dont plan on overclocking just get the gt, the gs needs to be overclocked for the performance to be good (6800 ultra speeds).

Yes it has 8 more pipelines and has higher clock speeds, it is worth the extra money.....you love it....it outperforms the 6800GS by a landslide....

I have a 6800GS PCI-e and it kicks. Of course, it is overclocked, though. If you're going to get the 6800GS (which I think is the best bang for your buck), you'll need to overclock ASAP to get good benches, etc.

if you plan to keep the card for sometime then 7800gt is the way to go,that been said I think the 6800GS is good overall card but I just can't recommend it over the 7800GT even if it's a lot cheaper. In the long run the 7800 will be the best choice.

the gs is the agp version of the 7800, as for the brand, evga, bfg, and xfx all seem to be very good brands for the 7800

The 7800Gt is by far a superior vid card and I think it would be the best bang for your buck. I got an EVGA brand and I am completely happy with it. Has a lifetime warranty which even covers overclocking.

Hmm My 6800 GS PCI-E OCs great... Currently at 480 and 1.3.....

BUT ofcourse the 7800GT would be better But if you wanna save money 6800GS should suffice.. BTW I have an EVGA and it works great and the EVGA Step-Up Program is great so I recomend it...

yeh like they say it depends on what bus you are using lol

if you have agp go for the GS and it is the fastest 6800 out at the moment as far as i know soo i would get that, i was gonna get one but i didnt have enough money but i still managed to get a good Oc'able card
but i would get a xfx 7800gt XXXversion as they have tweaked it that little extra too

hope that is any help to you
