Response to question 1. I bought two WD Blacks. They sent the drives sitting in styrofoam wrapped in bubble tape inside a box with peanuts. I don't know how that compares to in the past.

2. If I buy a WD15EADS from them on Black Friday will I get the new 3 platter design?

Like TH421 said, they wrap them more than adequately. Ive gotten all my hard drives from newegg, and they have always been received in great condition.

Well scrap these plans. Cashback still isn't work, and Tigerdirect has higher percentage.
got several things from newegg the past 2 weeks, 2 750 gig drives, packed very well was among the stuff I recieved.
