buying a new laptop

hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a laptop for media and school work and web browsering.

I been looking a this one and thinking of getting it. What do u guys think about the price and it's performance.

i can get it for $530 dollars.
And i'm planning to run windows XP onto it. btw do windows XP support 3gb of ram? I'm talking abut the 32 bit version of XP professional.

Might be a bit over his budget though, my 3 year old XPS M1710 still sells for around £650. That laptop seems pretty good, but maybe you should consider getting one with a better graphics chip if you're planning on using it for media.

I'm not sure about their offerings in that price range, but I'm really happy with my lenovo.

what's wrong with the Intel GMA X3100?? is it too weak? I mean it supports vista aero interface with ease

what is wrong with the Intel GMA X3100? is it so waek that i can't play youtube videos on it. or view AVI files on my desktop?

I have heard of some dvd playback issues with a bit of lag. No one want that I would also go with a bump up in the gfx department.

It's not that it's terrible, but some of the new Nvidia and Ati offerings are so much better, and they don't cost a lot more. With an Intel chipset, you may get a bit of lag playing HD video - I certainly did on a GMA 950.

ok but this laptop is mainly for my school needs. I might not even playback any HD videos. but i just ever now and teh play something from youtube/
