Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare Patching?

My friend says this game is supposed to auto-patch itself. However i have hit the issue of this... not working. I can't find an index of patches to manually patch with and i can't find any update button in the game. Anyone know how i can get it up to 1.7? I'm totally lost.

Just download this then this and you're patched up.

I don't think it auto patches.

the auto patch seemed to break after 1.5,make sure you get every patch if you go on servers that use the xmas crash map,iirc the 1.4-1.5 is the patch that contains that map

Download the 1.6 patch, than download the 1.7 patch.

1.6 & 1.7 as mentioned before.

Steam does patch itself to the latest version tho, It did to me
