Hello everyone,

I just pulled the trigger and purchased a Yamakasi 27" 2560x1440 (based on all the + reviews from OC), upgrading from a Samsung 24" 1920x1200.

I was wondering if "1" GTX 680 can perform well at 2560x1440? Well = 60+ FPS consistently.

I play games such as Battlefield 3 Max Ultra Settings, Batman Arkam Max Settings, as well as other photo editing softwares for work.

Thanks!

I think your VRAM will cause problems before the sheer performance of the card will. Sadly, you can't just SLI to increase VRAM. I think it should be fine in every game but BF3.

The 680 definitely destroys everything at 1080p, but it's only slightly faster at 1600p. You have a slightly smaller resolution than 1600p, so your results will be inbetween.

Ugh. That definitely shattered my hopes since I've been waiting for the gtx 680 for so long and was so happy I purchased that monitor.

Since I primarily game with BF3, what would you fellas recommend since SLI probably won't help?

It looks like the GTX 680 is still beating the 7970 at 2560x1600 with 4x MSAA/16x AF in BF3. You should be fine based on that.

As you can see though, this card really shines at 1080p:

I guess i"ll wait for benchmarks. I'll report on here my findings once I get my hands on a GTX 680.
Check my edit above.

I just received this very monitor and I'm waiting for the 680 as well and I was wondering the same thing. From the leaked Tomshardware photos (BF3 @ 2560x1600 45-60 FPS) you should be fine even with the 2Gb version. However, you can see the 2Gb beginning to bottleneck FPS at this high res. It is only a few % higher than the 7970, while on average the 680 is 18-20% higher.

Cheap housing and my SE model has no scaler (for faster response) so I can't test the image quality until I get a Dual DVI source (GTX 680

) but it powers up fine and the gradient/viewing angles looks beautiful LOL. I do have a few (4-6) bright pixels on the far right, but they are almost invisible at regular viewing distances and out of 3.6 million, that pretty good (?). I'll try and let you know more when it's all hooked up.

I am sorry to tell you this but it is completely wrong.

2GB is plenty for 2560x1440 and 2560x1600, even 1.5GB was with my 3 GTX580's.

With a GTX680 you can play just fine above +60fps in Battlefield 3 at 2560x1440 on Ultra with FXAA High (But MSAA OFF).

With 2x GTX680 in SLI you will destroy any game at highest settigns at 2560x1440 with MSAA.
