Can a HDMI imput fry?

306 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Fox_Smash
I think my tv's imput is fried,my friend pulled the cable too hard and the gold/plastic part where the little cables go got stuck on the tv.I removed them and tried fixing the cable then putting the cable back but it didn't work.
Is it possible that the broken cable fried the imput?
I bought a new cable to try and it didn't work, works fine on other TVs.
If broken,can i fix/replace it?

Sounds like it... A short must have burnt something out. Replacing the plug probably won't help.
Yes inputs of all sorts can be burned.

How can i check that?(if it's actually burnt)
So you're basically saying that i have to get a new TV?

Chances are the plug can be repaired, but you are going to have to take it to a repair shop.

You can't... the internal chip or traces are probably burnt. You can always check for any scorch marks but you may not see anything.

The plug is probably has less resistance than the traces or ICs.... it's probably the last part to burn.

It's still in warranty,i suppose i can take it to the shop and say it broke down on it's own?
it has no sign of physical damage, double checked it.
