Your cpu is causing a major problem with your system. You need atleast a 2.7-2.8 oc to not hold your card back too much, also dual core would help. Also that mixed ram setup you have will cause you not to run in dual channel, I recommend a matched 2x1gig dual channel kit, as games are getting very ram dependent. Edit also by the looks of it your stuck with socket 754, a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade would really benefit you, your current system is a major bottleneck to your gfx card.

Could be because you are using DDR ram. Try getting some DDR 2 ram maybe?

Don't think his board supports ddr2 so hes stuck with ddr1 unless he upgrades that. And looking at ecs site it don't support a x2 cpu either. The cpu is probly your major problem you need to try to overclock it some or upgrade your board and cpu to one that has support for ddr1 and 2 so you don't have to buy it all at same time.
should i trade my gts for a 7800gtoc with a new asus p5b deluxe and a p4 520j ?

No, sell it and go C2D or AM2. Although C2D would be the better choice.

well not really. his cpu is better than mine, and i can run practically anything i want. a bigger oc would deff help.

then again im on 939 not sure how much of a performance difference that would make.

Am I the only one who can read? Let's find the REAL processor requirements

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS

OS: Windows Vista™ Processor: 2 Ghz Pentium 4 class processor (or x64)
I believe his processor is fine.

I think a solution could be to reinstall graphics and motherboard drivers. Then run Aquamark 3. That'll put a number on how well your computer is running. Come back if it's not over 60,000. You don't need to upgrade.

EDIT: That graphics card should run ANYTHING. The problem is not in the hardware. I'm blaming a bad graphics driver, as that card is pretty new. Try finding the newest again, they might have updated.

Joshn, Yes but you and me are running 7600 series not a 8800 series.

all the more reason it should run twice as well!

IMO the 7600 sucks, the worst card i have ever used. however i shouldnt be to harsh, it was cheap and it still gets the job done a year or two on.

i said that his cpu cant be the problem, and clearly his card is not, i too blame drivers.

running a 8800 on single core is no no... he is bottlenecking. You need atleast a dual core bud.
but it wouldn't be bottle necking enough to not allow him to play games? he just wouldn't get the full potential of the card
I think an important question no one has asked yet is: What resolution are you trying to play games at?
well i am running it at full, which it lets me (1280 x1024)
and it runs fine. so his shouldn't be a problem ....but then again, anyone know how i can make it run at higher resultions? is it my card that is stopping me?
I try n run games at 1600 1050 with graphics on medium and no anti aliaising or whatever but i get like 5 fps in halo 2 , fear only runs with settings all on low , the thing is i used to play fear and it looked good so sothing happend and no my comp is breaking down
idk i think i need a whole new setup
1. Your processor isnt fast enough for that card.
2. You have DDR ram. New games need 2Gb of DDR2 to usually run well on max/high.

Upgrade your mobo, processor, and ram is about the only option you have.

dude, just do a reformat. install latest drivers. it cannot be a hardware problem, not if its all in working order anyway. your hardware is not bad enough, not matter how much bottle neck you have to get 5fps.

dont mix your ram. just use the 2 sticks you have in dual channel try that.
i dont have ddr2 ...i dont think , and me = no probs.

Upgrade your mobo, processor, and ram is about the only option you have.

i would still try reformat first.
