im a linux noob, ive tried a bunch of distros, but cant find the one for me
. i want a distro that runs on an old laptop, 233mhz,32mb of ram etc etc.
basically a relatively lightweight one, but is easy to connect to a USB network adapter (linksys WUSB54G)

anyone have a suggestoin?

http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ its only 50mb. I'm running it on a 450mhz amd k6-2, 6gb quantum fireball, and 32mb of ram.

Ubuntu - its easy to install - takes about 20 minutes. I had it on a partition of 10gig (including swap space) and i didnt use anywhere near that.

he wants a lightweight distro...I don't think ubuntu or redhat is lightweight, it'd run like crap on that pc.

yes i have ubuntu on another pc, p3 256mb of ram, it wouldnt survive on this laptop, thanks everyone

well You'll have to google it...because I really don't know what to do with damn small linux lol, I didn't use it much, I just know its designed for this purpose.

dsl is designed to be a live distro. not a standalone. Use slackware or maybe a form of BSD. They usually will run barebones.
