since you've got a pretty good cooler. try hitting 3.8ghz-4ghz. i suggest you take out that extra kingston ram first. then time your ram manually. add little increments to your northbridge volts and to your ram.

try settings like 212x18, 224x17, 236x16, 248x15.

with those settings, try aiming your ht speed as close to 2000mhz.

here's a good guide:

share us some screenies.

good luck!

This stupid **** needs to stop. Nobody posting in an AMD forum is using an outdated INTEL Pentium TWO.

To the OP: Are you hitting max safe processor volts, or max on your motherboard?
Also, what is your load temp? 30c load or idle?
What are you 'fiddling' with?

I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the Intel junkies/fanboys coming in here and telling us our acronyms and buzzwords are wrong because of some outdated processor.
You don't see all the ATi guys going to the nVidia forums and saying the 9800 is a rip off of the older 9800 from ATi do you?

first take off that extra kingston ram... win xp32 home can only see 3.25/3.5/3.75 GB of ram... optimal oc for 720BE is 3.6 with 1.5vcore... 3.7 is stable with 1.525~1.575 but it will be hot always and always add +~10c with your actual temp just to make sure... Good luck

Wow thanks guys, first of all it was because i was seeing red lines in the preformance tab in task manager that i thought it might be broke. and the overclock, just brought vista home premium (32)
because i lost the cd key for an xp home reinstall, take out the ram ok the 2 kingstons and the most stable oc im gonna get is 3.6? bummer
what if i went and got me a x4? will there be much difference i was kinda hoping for a 4ghz amd with a 4870x2 ati
but ill stop spending money if i cant hit atleast 3.8

it should hit 3.8. with that v8, you can go as high as 1.55v and just oc that simply by just increasing the multiplier.
