The only way you can activate the 3d feature is if you buy the glasses which is about $150 more or less

Or he could hook up to a 3dtv, and use his TVs settings and glasses.

If he wants 3D Blu Ray though HDMI... the card needs a HDMI 1.4a port. I believe the GT430 has it but not all other cards do.

He doesn't need a "better card" for 3D HD playback.

That's not what I meant. If he can afford a 3dtv, He can afford a better card for other use like extreme gaming.

Why blow the money if he only needs to play movies though?

Like I said, You need the 3d glasses to use the card. Someone said he does not need 3d glasses if you have 3dtv. Why do you need the card if you have 3dtv?

Since he is using a Sempron CPU, this is most likely a dedicated HTPC.

Just because you have money does not mean you should spend it.
Just because you have fit more powerful components does not mean it is worth it due to heat, power, and noise.

I said it, plus storing movies, downloading, bluerays for much cheaper(player/writing only costs 40 bucks).

It's obvious he picked the card so he can save money. He have to buy the glasses for it and most likely he does not have a 3dtv.

You're going too far. The dude ask if he can play 3D movies with the card.

The answer is yes but he have to buy the glasses.

Jumping to conclusions much?

A GT430 is well suited as it supports the latest Pure Video and utilizes the least amount of power (so less noise).

A 3D player is not a HTPC.

Same could be said for you assuming his financial situation based on a video card...

He most likely has them. Really, I am not trying to be mean, but you are kind of making yourself look like a jerk/know it all.
