DDR3 is DDR3. You could buy a tri-channel kit and only use two of them if you wanted even though it says its designed for I7s

When it says they're designed specifically for a certain type of board, it is typically the voltage tolerances that are set a particular way. Regardless, like NZi said, DDR3 is DDR3.
