I have some old Corsair memory, model number TR3X6G1600C8D (3x 2Gb). I used it on a previous build with a core i7 950 and Asus x58 motherboard. My next build--a simple file backup/media server, will be using a recent board (Asus H170I-PLUS D3) and sixth generation processor. This board only has two DIMM slots. The old memory still worked fine at the time I retired it.

So the question is, will my old memory work with the new board and only in a dual channel configuration?

Thanks for the help!

I see both are DDR3 so it should work just fine.
