5850 is stronger. The 5850 competes with the 470 and the 5830 competes with the 460 even though the 5830 is useless...

FSX is very cpu intensive. I don't think ANY card could run it maxed out and smooth. I know my 295 couldn't. So... for fsx, the card should be fine.

Wrong
Nothing competes with GTX 480 in the 5XXX series.
5870 competes with GTX 470 1.28Mb
5850 competes with GTX 460 1GB
5830 competes with GTX 460 768Mb/SE

You do realize that nbmjhk6 never said anything about a 5850 beating a 480.

On topic: That Palit GTX 460 796MB can probably run most games at max settings at all resolutions lower than 1680x1050. (except metro2033)
If he will use a higher res then he needs 1gb or more ram.

GTX 460 768 MB offer good performance in 1680x1050.
In 1080p you might need to turn down some settings.
But with a few more bucks you can get the 1 GB version which offer better performance at 1080p.
