I'm in the market for a new GPU. I'm looking to go either 6870 or 6950 and then flash it to 6970.

Can they all be flashed?
What is the success rate?
What are the dangers?

2gb rev. 1's can be flashed. Except MSI and Powercolor I believe. MSI and Power started rev. 2's with no dual bios. Not 100% sure tho. Get a sapphire.

1. I am pretty sure only the 2GB version 6950 can be flashed to a 6970.
2. The success rate is pretty high, worth the risk to me.
3. There is virtually no danger because if you mess up the bios there is a physical switch on the card letting you go back to the default bios.

Short answer no. But most ref. 2GB versions you can. Have had 3 visiontek's and all have flashed no problems whatsoever. No dangers pretty much either. A bad flash can be flashed back to original BIOS and most have 2 BIOS's.
