Various forums such as eVGA run cash/prize give-aways for their folders but as far as I know it's not really possible to make that much money unless you pull massive amounts of points like clamatowas - I'm sure there would be a bit of a bounty to have clam on your team

The only other way I can think you'd save money is using the heat generated during the winter instead of running heating inside your house.

I can understand some people swapping to teams that offer prizes or money so they can afford to keep on folding; after all, the results all end up in the same place regardless of what team you are folding for.

You truely are best off folding for the cause. Even sites that pay dont even pay enough to cover power/parts/etc. I fold when I can afford the power, but a folding rig makes a darn good room heater.
