Case Fan Recommedations

Im looking for some new fans for my NZXT Alpha. For those who are unfamiliar with the layout it has one 120 mm mount up front at the bottom and one 120 mm mount in the "usual" spot on the back. NZXT says the front will only fit a 120 x 20 mm fan, but I think I may be able to squeeze a 120 x 25 mm in.

ATM I have a Yate Loon D12SL-12C, http://www.crazypc.com/products/d12sl-12c-55521.html, up front. In the back I have a Enermax MAGMA UC-MA12, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835214001, in the back.

I'd definately like to keep them as quiet at possible. My heatsink fan is ~40 dba at max rpm so, nothing louder than that.

EDIT: Looking for more airflow. Not happy with my temps.

You have done pretty good with your choice of fans so far...maybe with the exception of the Enermax. Fan suggestions are in my guide (first link in sig and stickied at top of forum). Best quiet fan Gentle Typhoon AP-15 or 14 if your looking for something a tad bit quieter. I also always suggest a fan controller so you can get that exact amount of "quiet" that your ears are tooned for.

I was looking for more air flow, should have mentioned that.

I've got a fan controller, Scythe KM01-BK "KAZE MASTER", http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-038-_-Product. Figured it was a must with the Panflo I bought, and it was.

EDIT: Love your guide btw.

For case fans and with a fan controller I would go for any of the fans in my guide in the Performance 25mm section. The cheaper fans are great for case fans (ZM-F3 and Yate Loon High Speed). R4's aren't a bad choice for case fans either.

EDIT: Thanks for the love

Anything wrong with this guy, http://www.petrastechshop.com/12scsysstcaf4.html?

I looked at the R4's and came across that Scythe. Looks like more CFM for about the same dBA at max rpm.

Slip Streams are overrated in their specs and do terribly on any kind of restriction even with dust filters being the only restriction. They will perform well as an exhaust with the mesh cut out and a simple wire fan guard but again, why go through all that trouble just to try and make a sub par fan perform well. Stick with the goodies and stay away from slip stream IMO.

Fit's on 120mm holes.
And cost an arm and a leg considering they will only be used as case fans

I have a wire fan grill and was planning on cutting out the mesh anyways, but no sense in doing that just to bring a fan up to par. Guess I'll go with that Yate Loon or a R4.

Is there a optimum CFM in/out ratio? I've read about the negative and positive pressure set ups, but I don't remember seeing anything about how much air in versus out is best.

There is no CFM in/out ratio due to there being too many variables to actually precisely measure the CFM and pressure of a case (model case, dust filters, mesh, cable management, etc...). Read my guide's section on air pressure. Should give you some insights as to what you want and what your case has.
