Cat5E or Cat6?

Need a new cable to connect my router to my 360 and i'm trying to decide between these two.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812105309 - 5E

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812189037 -6

^ For 10 cents more I can't help but think why not...

But I'd still like some extra opinions on it.

The second link has a one year warranty and is CAT 6. I'd get this one. Actually if I were you, I'd get me one too... just a thought though.

0_o.

Worth the extra 10 cents then...

Will it work with my 360?

Doesn't matter. Your 360 won't pull the bandwidth to see a difference anyway,,,,,
If you are using a 10/100Mb router, you won't notice a difference between Cat5e or Cat6.

I would just get Cat5e. And as Juggalo said, go to monoprice and get a Cat5e cable, much cheaper there

I'll probably upgrade soon.

Well, Cat6 is more future proofed and that one cable comes with a 1 year warranty.

As for monoprice, i'd rather not save $1 and have to put credit info on that website.

It dosent matter becuase the 360 dosent pull enough bandwidth
so go with which ever you want

I would go with the cat 6 because I might use it for a pc later down the road

We bought several dozen cat6 cables for the server rack at my high school. Trust me, they are high quality. They also sell very good VGA cables and HDMI's. We did a dozen or so class-room projector installs with cables solely from monoprice. Guess what? None have failed yet.

And we used the school's credit card, and have not had any issues. You have nothing to worry about.

Also, if you buy the Cat5e cable, its able to be used on a Gigabit network. Cat6 is a standard for Gigabit networks but also able to be used on a 10/100Mb network

I'd still not rather have credit info in multiple places. If the website gets hacked, my info could be used.

Which is rarely unlikely, for EX: Newegg has been open for a very long time and I've never heard of there servers getting hacked into and stealing information.

Also, you can use Paypal on monoprice if you so desire

Maybe I should just stay in bed because if I step out I could trip and break my leg.

I'll just bite the $1 bullet and buy it from Newegg so I can get the 1 year warranty.

Cat6 is a waste in this situation...

I lol'd.

But seriously, when buying cable in bulk go with monoprice. (Heck, if you buy cable in bulk, you better be buying it in a spool).

So do it, there's no point arguing. Also, what a waste of time, you argued when people suggested Cat5e, you obviously had your mind made up before you even posted the thread.

I'd get CAT6, because for all we know, it may be required for the upcoming release of the Ethernet standards.

This made me laugh. There is no need for a warranty on ethernet cables. I would also agree with gonX, and say, I would have gone with Cat6 as to future proof.
