Title says it all - I uninstalled CCC 11.8 via driver sweeper (complete uninstall, w/ safe-mode reboot), and then installed 11.9. Reboot after it finishes installing and almost instant BSOD.

I re-downloaded 11.9 twice and got BSOD'd every time. I then re-downloaded 11.8 (which was running stably before) and got another BSOD! So last night I could only run my computer in safe mode until I did a system restore to a point before the first time I installed 11.9 and now it's working fine again.

Before every update/reinstall, I use driver sweeper to wipe the old drivers. The only things I've downloaded recently are BF3 beta, From Dust, and Rage. But now I don't know what further to do, and have no idea why 11.9 is crashing me instantly and even stranger, why re-installing 11.8 also crashed. Anybody know what could cause this? :/

*edit* Just tried 11.10 - same BSOD.

I had a crash removing 11.8 and I ran Diskchk with repair. It took 4 hours but I then was able to install 11.9 with no issues. I think the best bet at this point would be a clean install of Windows for a new registry and then install drivers. It may save you some time chasing the issue.

Thanks, I'll try running chkdsk. Srsly don't want to reinstall Windows because of this.

Ya but you dont have to do a clean install to my understand to get a new registry. So your old file will be saved, and you will have to install programs, and drivers still. Checkdisk may or may not help. You need to check mark both options it gives you when you run it. So it will fix bad sectors as well. You have the same HDD as me so it should take the same time around 4 hours. IF it takes longer than it means you HDD is seriously messed up and it is having trouble. I was told it should only take about 2 hours so mine was already messed up.

I have an extreme problem with the 11.9's not working when I run RAGE. So far my only solution has been to stick with 11.8's. Battlefield runs fine, so I'm not sure what I'm missing by not using 11.9

Seems to be hit or miss with these drivers. Plenty of people have had issues with 11.8 like me. Who knows why.

Any resolution? I'm still unable to run anything past 11.8 with any stability. Can't decide if I should re-format, or wait for another drivers update.

Try this:

Clean it with Atiman Uninstaller v.6.0.0.msi. Download LINK

Run it with administrator privilege. Some antivirus software will give false a false positive. Let it restarts itself to complete the uninstallation.

Set the UAC (User Account Control Setting) to minimum, then install Catalyst 11.9 + CAP or preview drivers if you like. Give it another try.

Til this day i dont know why. 11.5 were the drivers for me. I skipped 11.6 and 11.7 and i am on 11.8 which are good so far. Im skipping 11.9 and going with 11.10.....maybe skip them and go 11.11...dunno yet.

I would install all available from Windows Update and avoid AMD graphics driver from WU. Then set UAC to minimum.

How do do you go about setting UAC to minimum?

I am fine with 11.8 now. 11.6 i tried a few times and never got them to work.

I just ran this utility - it went through its paces then rebooted my computer, but froze on the Windows startup logo. I did a manual reset, got a BSOD while my finger was still pushing on the reset button, then loaded up Windows normally (not in safe mode) to find that all my old drivers are still in place. ***?
