You could either get a round IDE cable, or a SATA CD drive.
will the SATA cable work with most CD ROM drives?
Pfft dont buy a round one just get cable ties and make the fat ones round I DID and it works ok but isnt very bendy.

If its a SATA CD/DVD Drive, yes. If its a ribbon cable, then no.

How can I tell, there are two more types of connections to the left of the IDE connection, now if it is a sata connection do i hook tht right up to the Sata conection on my mobo?
I dont think any DVD drives have SATA and IDE.
he might be looking at the ide jumper block and thinking its a second, smaller connector
Yeah, there aren't DVD drives with sata and IDE. If you want, you could buy a new DVD drive and sata cable, but for now, a rounded IDE should work just fine.
Honestly, I would just get a SATA drive. A decent one will set you back $25. How much are you going to spend on a cable, anyways?

edit: I had a few set-ups with round IDE. While they are better than ribbon, I still didn't like them. Still bulky and I always had a hard time getting the end covers to stay in place. (could've just been the cables I was using, though.)
Im gonna just go with a round cable, I think I found one at best buy i can use its all black which works with my case, but maybe later ill go with a sata connection
Round PATA cables are fat and stiff IMO, but in this economy go for it
. Or maybe you can auction your drive and get a cheap SATA one, how much does the cable cost anyway? 5? maybe you can sell your drive for 15 and buy a 25 one, you'd be spending just $5 more than if you got a pata cable

You may spend more for the cable at best buy than you would getting a new drive from newegg.
