I had a dell XPS 420 with vista and a Core 2 quad q9300, and I have recently re-built the computer with a new case, motherboard, CPU (core i7) and memory, but when I put my old hdd in the new tower it won't boot. I assume this is because vista was installed under a different architecture, but is there any way to repair the installation of vista without formatting? I also have a windows 7 partition which was installed after the build and does work, so I can access all the files on the vista partition.
