Here are two "cheap" netbooks: $266 ASUS EeePC 900 (20 GB SSD) and $294 ASUS EeePC 900HA (160 GB HDD). Both have free shipping from Amazon.com.

You could get a EeePC 4G for around $250, but you'd only have a 4 GB SSD to work with.
MSI Wind. It doesn't get much better than that in my opinion.
I can now stretch my price to 300 pounds, about 350 dollars I think
Something like an MSI Wind U120 would fit the budget. 160Gb HDD and 6cell battery, I think they cost around $330.
Right, btw is everything linux, I dont like linux :/
Asus 1000HE

Done.
Stupid question 'Could I play some low demanding games on it e.g. CSS and WOW?'
best i can find is this EEE PC 1000HE for £329.95 with £10 del

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ASUS-EEE-PC-10...3A1|240%3A1318

i don't know if the people are legit or not but they have perfect feedback so it should be worth a shot. man UK prices are so high

CSS isn't possible with the sub-$400 netbooks. The GMA 950 chipset just can't handle it. As for WoW, I believe it is barely playable at 800 x 600.

The HDD equipped netbooks come with Windows XP. The SSD equipped netbooks usually come with some flavor of Linux (Xandros, Ubuntu, etc). You can still easily put Vista or XP on most netbooks via a USB flash drive.

Thanks!
Also is there such thing as a netbook with an optical drive or will I just have to go external?

The Kohjinsha SX3 (review) has a built-in optical drive, but since it's only released in Japan, you'd have to have it specially ordered and shipped to the U.S. (approx cost of $500-600 USD).

The upcoming ASUS EeePC 1004DN will have a optical drive as well, but will cost you around $500/$600. It won't arrive until later this year.

Pick up the MSI Wind U120, 6-Cell with 160GB HDD and Windows XP Home.

Or get the Lenovo S10.

Both of those are amazing, and I feel the MSI Wind is far more better than the EeePC.
