For years after viewing so many computer mods online, I always wanted to build one of my own. This is my first project and I'm excited to do it but since I'm noob to this, I'll be going by ear as I do it. I will try to update as often as I can with progress.

The tower I chose actually chose me... I saw it out on the curb for garbage in my neigborhood so I decided to adopt it... After some long searches, I have found it to be a Antec SX840 Chenming 601AW.

Only flaw was the lock on side was locked so I had to break into it like a criminal.

I love the dual exhaust ports in the back, a nice feature of having a full size tower.

20 pin PSU sold for $10, will cover some mod supplies. 4 case fans will keep it nice & cool.

Stripped and getting it prepped for some work...

Going to cover up the floppy bay.

Toying with an idea here for the front of the case...

Had a UPS unit that died so I took off the front.

I would like to mold it to the front of the original case, but I'm not sure as I'll lose airflow... what do you think? If I do go with this I'll cover up the stock power button as well. Reset button was missing so I took the floppy eject button and cut it down and will attach some how later.

Got the case sprayed today, I will go take pictures and post them shortly... now I'm trying to come up with a design for a side window... I googled antec cases as I'd like to stay with their designs if I could. Any suggestions or ideas?

The design I came up with for the side window.

Wanted to hide some eye sores and put more focus on the MoBo.

The handle was busted, also another reason to cut it out.

After cutting, I think turned out nicely.

I'd just go with a full window with rounded corners like this.

After messing around tonight for a few hours trying to come up with paint schemes this is what I come up with.

I was going to but the frame has an ugly bar across the top and I wanted to hide it as well as the drive bays, but thanks for your input. *Sorry, I was a bit late posting some pics*

Also came up with a rendition of the case how it will look close to finished... will attach side panel with a hinge, install a half moon style handle, and some magnets inside to secure the panel.

BTW how large is the front intake and rear exhaust? 80mm I guess?

Yes, Dual 80mm both front and back... do you suggest more? I'm not going to be overclocking so I dont need extreme airflow but I guess more is always better.

Well I notice that you are going to use front fan as exhaust, any reason for this?

I see what you thought I meant... guess I should have clarified it a bit more, as the arrows just pointing to the fans

Bill over at MNPCTech let me in on a little secret... this case is not aunthentic ANTEC, actually is manufactured by Chenming USA for ANTEC... so for that I made some modifications , dropped ANTEC logo and such...

Started to mod the front bezel for the new power button...

took about an hour since I did it with wire cutters and long nose pliers... also pulled out all the hardware cables and washed it down, boy was it dirty.

Also cut down the power panel to fit into the hole I made... now how to figure to blend it in with the rest of the bezel...
