Anyone on Amazon complaining about bad cooling or difficult installation is a (pardon my french) dumbarse. I have one of these and it f'n rocks. Combine with a single TY-143 fan and no problem running a 9900K at 5 GHz all-core.

The problem is fitting 140 Power cooler into cases, and also finding it to buy it at all. With it's heatpipes, yes it's a beast but so are most other similar size and heatpipes TR coolers and other.

this cant be true, it is too good, but if it's then it is the best thing since the Fanless Raijintek TISIS and the Scythe Fuma

Has to be(If true), no way a dual tower cooler with 1x 140mm & 1x 120mm aRGB fans would be priced under $50.

It depends on ambient temp obviously, plus I have a pretty good chip that doesn't need a lot of vcore for 5 GHz. BFV gaming temps are typically low 70's. It uses all 8 cores.

First - Those are discount prices, release prices were higher.

Second - These don't come with aRGB fans. 120mm aRGB fans are generally around $20. No way 2x aRGB fans & a dual tower cooler would be released under $50.

You seem to have a great 9900k, my 9700k needs 1.35V to get to 5.1/4.8 (core/uncore). I'm surprised you haven't tried for a higher overclock than 5 Ghz. Why not try for 5.2 Ghz.?

I am aware of Nan's Gaming Gear but must be a lousy searcher because I could never actually find them before now. This is the one to get. Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme


It can handle 1.55v 24/7/365 with temps rarely touching 70C.

My chip is decent but I would not say it's golden. I run a fixed voltage with High LLC and load vcore is typically just 1.248v, 100% stable. I don't bench at all anymore, this rig is only for gaming and there is no reason to push the chip any harder for that purpose.

Actually the 8mm x 6 heatpipes on the TS 140 Power are rated higher (360w TDP diffusion) vs the 6mm x 8 heatpipes (320w TPD diffusion) on the SA SB-E.

8mm pipe = ~60w TDP diffused
6mm pipe = ~40w TDP diffused

There are other factors of course. It's too bad they didn't use 8mm pipes with the SA SB-E.

I don’t think TR was using 8mm pipes way back then. But there has to be more to it than just the size of your pipe. TS140P is one of the best coolers I have used, if not the best. And so is LGMRT. Both are very different, and one has 7x 6mm pipes but a crapload of surface area. In my Meshify C I get better results with LGMRT than TS140P because of my airflow configuration. I have two exhaust fans that are basically pulling on the cooler, while four intakes pounding on the face side of the cooler. In conjunction with TY-143 I have 5x 120x38, 1x TY-147A, 1x 90x38 3900 RPM screamer all on a couple of controllers except the TR fans. That all means I can run my cpu right up to one tick before ovp kicks in at 1.525v and my gpu at its limit and not worrry about heat to much. But realistically I can run linpack extreme at 4700mhz1.4v on my 3770K.. I hear that’s water cooling voltage. TS140P can handle 1.6v on a 4800mhz x5690 in my Define R4. No filters or mesh on either case.

That's the one I have, it's sold on Amazon and direct though Nan's Gaming Gear in the US.

Thermalright had a two-tower cooler named "IFX-14" over ten years ago, that's older than the NH-D14. That old cooler also had four extra thick 8mm heat-pipes, just like this new one here.

The IFX was an amazing cooler. I loved it and it served me very well. I still have photos of it. Sadly it couldn't keep AMD's Presshot (the BD uArch) cool so I had to replace it with something much better.

That is an interesting cooler, but the single weak fan kills its potential. With two TY-143 fans it might be a different story. It's too bad NAN's doesn't seem to have a retail store.

Wow! They have the Silver Arrow for sale there! It has been unavailable in North America for years. This places the Frost Spirit in perspective. The Silver Arrow is their top of the line model while the Frost Spirit is their mid range model.



Want a 5ghz air cooled FX? The Silver Arrow can do it. I wouldn't even try it with the Frost Spirit. But it should be fine with current CPUs. I just hope that one of those heat pipes is sitting directly over the hot spot on Zen.

Did I buy. I have not bought a cooler in years. It is the IVB-E. They sent me the AM4 mount. Cost $5-6 bucks shipped from Germany.



The Macho has lots of fin surface to pull heat out of the pipes but no way to get rid of said heat. I'm a big fan of wind chill and if my puter was set up on wheels it would roll around. The fans are more important than the cooler itself. My proof? I have the only air cooled FX in the 5ghz 24/7 club.



The 8mm pipes on the 140P are interesting in that they have more flow and can react more quickly to sudden temperature changes, but the future is with vapor chambers. Unfortunately the only outfit making those is Coolermaster.
