Does anyone know of a review that covers a LOT of chipset coolers? Namely the Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II and the Thermalright HR-05.<br />
<br />
I cant seem to find one. <img src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />

</div>Cool, my chipset cooler outperformed them all. I wouldnt have thought that the small zalman, which is passive, would outperform heatpiped active coolers...

they call "that" a review now-a-days? ok, I'm biased, but a chipset review should at least have some performance/noise tests, don't ya think?<br />
<br />
it's like reviewing a car without driving it or even sitting inside it. just taking pictures from the outside and turning the lights on of the car.

this is not much more informative, but at least they installed it on a mobo and did some OC test: <a href="http://hardware.bytesector.com/coolers/chipset/ttes2/review.php" target="_blank">http://hardware.bytesector.com/coole...es2/review.php</a>

how would the extreme spirit II work on the p5w dh deluxe? the nb heatsink on that board is also a mosfet cooler, would this still be worth getting?

Works fine just add a few vga heatsinks for the mosfets...<br>
Also if you take a look beneath the heatpipe covering the mosfets youll find a rubber liner...hmmm...<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
heres a picture installed....<br><br><a href="http://www.overclock.net/sale/122830-sale-e6700-p5w-deluxe-rev-68xxx.html" target="_blank">http://www.overclock.net/sale/122830...rev-68xxx.html</a>

Good question...as near as I can tell it just provides a cushion so that when you install the optional fan onto the cooling stack (used only when using phase or WC) you wont damage the mosfet. I would think it would have to have some thermally conductive properties but if it does then I have no idea how it works.

hrm, so as of right now i'm better off just putting vga ramsinks on the mosfets and getting a extreme spirit II for the NB then? Is the heatsink worth getting or can i get the same performance with a 40mm fan on the stock one?
