Choppiness in Far Cry 2

608 Views 12 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Aelius
I'm playing Far Cry 2 on my sig rig and even in the most intense scenes I still maintain excellent frames-per-second. The thing is, sometimes when driving/walking somewhere, it lags briefly. It seems to be loading the new information into view, but it's annoyingly choppy and jumps a few milliseconds.

Is there a way I can smooth it out?

i'd try lowering some settings and see if it still does it.

is it the only game that does it? could be a hard drive problem.

The thing is, I have little doubt my system can handle whatever Farcry 2 throws at it, because when in a firefight for example with lots of stuff going on and thousands of variables to sort out it's still maintaining an FPS higher than my eye can detect.

I've only played Far Cry 2 so far, just got this rig up and running a couple days ago.

I had this problem too. Going back to DirectX9 fixed it for me.

when i say lower your settings i'm not saying you computer can't handle it, by lowering your settings, if it is still there then it's definately NOT a computer horsepower problem.

basically if you lower your settings and it's still there then it's some other problem, could be a hard drive problem like i said, HD's go out all the time. install any other games you got and lemme know how they run.

Yeah DX10 Far cry is still bugged (it has been since launch) try playing in DX9 compatibility or play at a lower resolution see if that helps. Or maybe it could be because of your 6GB hard drive

Oh my... I guess I should fix that. It's 600gb

So, what other problems does DX10 have in Far Cry 2? I'm not aware of any other problems I'm having, but maybe they're there and I'm not noticing them...

I sighed...

My FPS tends to be around 40, dipping down now lower than 30 during intense scenes.

Right, move along now, don't go justifying your dismay or anything because that certainly won't help any of us understand what the hell you're talking about. [/sarcasm]
