Christmas Upgrade

So Christmas is near and I have the upgrade itch
and my rig is in the sig (lol the rhymes)

so i am thinking of an i5 rig
i came up with
core i5 (obviously...lol)
evga p55 FTW
4gb of gskill ripjaw
which comes out to roughly $500
or i can pickup the i5 for $150 at microcenter
and then have enough for a cpu cooler because i was goign to go stock till i got more money.

Im going to run on my 9800gt till later in 2010 i'll pick up a 300 or 5000 series card

does this sound good or should i do something else

I dont really want to spend that much money no more than $500
+ rep for help

sounds good i'd recommend getting a i5 at microcenter

i heard of the i5 sockets going bad
the ones manufactured by foxconn

So im going with the evga board because it uses a LOTES socket
im wondering what other boards do you guys recommend

also open to ram suggestions

i7 920 - ~220 at microcenter
Rampage II GENE - $210 off the egg
and bag some nice ram for $150...

that or go i5. why the P55 FTW though? plenty of other boards: the P55 UD3R is one for example, and on the egg atm they have TONS of great deals re mobos and ram...

You can't be too happy with it because in your sig it says "asus p5vd2mx se (it fails on so many levels)"

haha i hate my mobo with a passion
and no im not happy with it i mean it gets me from point a to point b

but i want something better
