So I've been playing FFVI off and on again, because I enjoy it even though I've played it through numerous times, and I keep finding myself getting distracted by other games. I'm pretty sure this is because there is really nothing left for me to accomplish with the game. However, last night I remembered something.

I've never beat Chupon in the arena.

For those of you who don't know or maybe don't remember, you can go to an arena in FFVI and bet items. You go in against an enemy chosen based upon the value of the item and if you win you can get something of higher value most of the time. Sometimes the game screws you over with a mega elixir or something like that. But that's if you choose to take the bet. Anyways... Some of the high end items you bet, will set Chupon as your challenger.

Chupon, in the arena, immediately sneezes your chosen champion out of the fight once you drop him below a certain amount of HP. It's an instant loss. I've found no way to get around this. He seems to be immune to instant kills, and dropping him to 0 hp doesn't work either (Sabin with 2 ice claws and a genji glove or whatever it is that gives double attacks can do 40k damage at the instant the fight starts, if memory serves me correctly Chupon has 36 or 37k in the arena.) And I've tried various other things: Slow, stop, reflect, etc... Nothing seemed to work.

So now I have a goal to achieve in FFVI. And I've come to the conclusion that it can only be achieved in 3 ways.

1: Negate Sneeze.

2: Glitch Chupon somehow so that he can't hit me with a sneeze.

3: Hack the game with Cheat Engine.

I'm a bit lazy for trying to do 3 right off the bat, so does anyone know of any glitches that could stop chupon, or some item or spell that I've never thought of that negates sneeze?

Edit: It also occurs to me that this may qualify Chupon as the first ever Troll.

The best set-up is to equip a character with a Master's Scroll, Genji Glove, and two Ultima Weapons. A high speed is also advised - leveling up with Cactuar helps. With a high enough speed the character will kill Typhon before he gets his first turn, and as with any other Colosseum battle the player loses their wager and wins an Elixir. Continually betting low-cost items like Potions and Antidotes allows a cheap and fairly fast and easy way to collect multiple Elixirs.

Wait until you have both the Offering and a pair of Genji Glove before taking the sneezer on. With these relics equipped, you will attack 8 times per turn, hopefully doing enough damage to beat Chupon before you fly off the screen.

Try to use characters who can equip strong sword including the Illumina, Excalibur, or Atma Weapon. Possible choices are Edgar, Celes, and Terra. 8 attacks from any of these swords can make short work of Chupon.

Level up. If you have the relics and sword this should not take long. Also, keep trying to fight Chupon even when he sneezes you all soup-ed up. If you are lucky can attack before he does and beat him before he gets the sniffles.

Are you referring to the japanese or american version? In the American version killing him doesn't result in a win. He instantly triggers a sneeze after you're done attacking, and as soon as you fly off the screen the game triggers an end of battle, before his death is detected and triggered.

I've killed him a 100 times, but I've never won the fight because of these behind-the-scene events and the way they're sequenced.

Typhon and the Master's Scroll are names specific to the japanese version, so I have a feeling that's the discrepancy.

The American version is glitchy, and I have a feeling that not being able to beat him in the American version is a glitch, which is why I'm willing to do a little cheating to make this happen. Can't break a broken game.
