Cleaning out my case.

Hi there.

My case is getting pretty dusty and am goin to clean it out soon, I was thinking about using a vacuum cleaner but i heard stories about frying components due to the static created. IS this a myth or does this actually happen. I thought all the static was created in the main workings of the vacuum. I was going to place the brush attachment to the end and just get the dust of the side and top of the graphics cards, fan grills, bottom foot, and the sides and top of power supply.

What you guys think

I've done it many times. The only thing I really worry about is keeping the nozzle angled so it don't pull at anything while vaccuming.
I use the vacuum on the outside of the case..Then I use air can to blow off the dust that is in the inside of the case..
I use a can of compressed air to loosen dust and a vacuum to catch it so I don't suffocate.

a static safe vac should be used...

a can of r134a duster, but a nice 90psi blast from clean and dry air compressor works even better...
I let rip with my vac, Didn't know It had static. I'll remember next time.

r134a is for a car ac unit

I was just about to say that, R134a is a refrigerant (freon) by dad works on AC units.
Might as well use an compressed air can like I do, works well getting the dust out.
ive done this before using a brush attatchment. i had no idea it could do that, but never had any problems

I just stopped doing this type of job an hour ago. and used a vacuum. if youre doing it on the carpet and your vacuums carpet beater brush has to be turning for your hose to suck then I can see static issues arising there. mine did not, thus Im sure there was no static issue. the computer works still. Id just say watch out for the motherboard capacitors as going crazy with the brush attachment may break one off. maybe a better idea to disassemble, clean, then reassemble. a 6 hour job done well.

^^^^ LMAO the chimes make it feel like its christmas inside that case. with the dust being the snow...yeah, you get it
Can you actually clean it out with a leaf blower ? I'd do it lol.
I have an air compressor in the garage. That might get a little more pressure than a leaf blower. What do you reckon. I don't wanna damage anything. Nor do i want any of the dust getting blown behind the motherboard in it little tricky corners
to be honest i break my whole setup down take everything out then blow it out with a can o air
