Well until I get my SMP clients sorted I am now using 2x Clients .

I have set them up succesfully and everything.

However it cant get a work unit as I get this message

''attempt to get work unit failed, and no other work to do. Waiting before retry''

I have disabled both my Router firewall and windows Firewall yet im still getting this problem I checked the server im connecting to and apparently its fine ( 171.64.122.133)

Any ideas.

Im not having much luck recently it seems.

Enterprise, can you give us a rundown of what setting you used during the setup of the client. Also choose yes to the advanced settings and let us know what they say as well.
Ok lets go lol.

Core priority : Low
Cpu usage requested 100%
Disable highly optimized assembly code : No
Laptop power pause : no
Interval between checkpoints : 3mins
Memory to dedicate : 256mb
Request work without deadlines : Yes
Get and submit work in batches: Yes
System clock frequency errors: No
Machine Id : 1

Thats it. Also as your a pro could you reccomend better settings than what im inputting. Also im using 2 x consoles.

Thanks mate.

Yay I fixed the issue. It seemed I had to say NO to ''Request work units with no deadlines.

All is good now.

Enterprise, the one that stands out to me is the Memory to dedicate. Although it may not need it, setting values below 512mb can keep you from getting WUs. This is a big issue with SMP, but likely not as much with single client folding. The most I have ever seen a SMP WU us is about 350mb. The value you set in the config determines which WUs it will accept. I usually just tell the system to use whatever amount of memory I have, and then it just uses what it needs(Between 250mb and 400mb for SMP).

As far as the WUs without deadlines, they are only available at certain times. If you have this setting set to yes, you may find yourself waiting for days to get a WU. Other than that, your setting should work out fine.

FYI, if you want to make an easy shortcut for changing settings, create a shortcut like you did earlier with SMP, then instead of adding -local -forceasm, add the switch -configonly. That will work with any of the clients, including the linux clients, and will let you change your settings.

Thats very much Knitelife. You have been there every step of the way. Well I have it setup now so that I have 500MB dedicated to each client when they need it. I would say that is most likely enough by going what you have said also.

I will add that line into my shortcuts as it will be nice to be able to configure them when I need to without them ressetting on me lo.

Thanks once again mate.
