I recently cloned a new ssd for a laptop using Acronis on my pc & works okay but when I try to recover the image on the laptop to factory settings F8 it comes up with a fail "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

Im wondering if anyone else has come up with this issue, I think its down to the recovery partition not set right or something silly, I need to sort it as have sold the laptop

And think if I reclone the drive will get the same problem & dont want to sell a faulty laptop.

Laptop is a Dell Lattitude E7440

It sounds like you did not clone the full disk.. just the boot partition. Without the OEM partition, you will have issues. I would recommend a complete re-install using the Dell OEM disk... which hopefully you created before killing the OEM partition?

I done an automatic clone on Acronis I think & double checked some guide which recommended this method..

I still have the original drive so can reclone if necessary just dont have an esata or usb lead so have to do it all on my PC.

Also the laptop doesnt have a dvd drive so am using a USB to create a windows disk from the laptop, hoping I can sort it with this 1st.

If you go to the Acronis backup file and right click on it... you should have the option "Recreate Backup Settings". That will open a window that will show what was backed up in that particular backup.. like this:

The window showing what was backed up:

What does your backup show?
