I say forget about helping OCN. Nothing personal guys but in this economy there is no JOB SECURITY. I say help out other people at work if you can or work on other porjects. Your income is really important to you right now since it's not that easy to get a job like it was years ago.

I'd be willing to compromise, just have the outer shape of the pin blocks, and if possible, the transistors on back

Editorial note:

To those offering to pay for machining services,
Sam has stated in the OP of this thread that he is not looking for commissioned/paid work, but is offering to produce 1 request a week (chosen at his discretion). As such, please limit requests in this thread that satisfy the guidelines he has set in the OP.

PM me what you want. Any particular reason you have things done on laser? Waterjets can do pretty much exactly what a laser does and are cheaper to job out to. Although Im partial to waterjet work since we have one. The tolerances and restrictions are very similar. Either way Id be happy to do something for an idol. Your work is AMAZING.

I have a few ideas but lack the 3d drawing tools.
Are there any open source 3d cad tools that you know of, or that are best suited to translation to your environment?

Where did that come from? At my machine shop(it's actually owned by my dad, brother and myself), we have not laid anyone off, and the wages we pay are top-notch in the industry. The healthcare plan we have is paid entirely by us, with nothing out of their pocket. Everybody in the shop gets a minimum of 2 weeks paid vacation. The reason I posted up is our shop is busy, but I'M not. I like giving back to good communities, hence why I said preference goes to folders. OCN is an awesome community and has definitely helped me out, so I wanted to help this community out in return. My income is also not important to me. I own my house outright, and most everything else is paid off. I was smart and saved the money I earned through college, and was very careful about my spending habits. Yes, the job market is slim, but the way we planned our work and purchases at the shop was done so in a way that we only bought machines if we could buy them outright, allowing us to keep our workers employed even if work slowed up. While respectable that you are looking out for other people, please, know the circumstances first instead of firing off a post telling me what to do.

do you have a *.edu email address? if so, you can get a free educational license for Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD from the Autodesk student community.

I knew that this "education" should pay off somewhat!

It's been a while since I futzed around in Solidworks, so it'll be a bit before I can ship something to you.

Could you make me a backplate for mounting my Thermaltake DuOrb onto my video card. Something probably similar in concept to one of those CPU bolt-thru plates, but will fit my GPU. Currently, the heatsink is just held in by 4 bolts, but the tension seems to be warping the card. It would probably just be a flat piece of metal with holes where pre-existing bolts can go through.

I am located in Canada, and would be more than happy to cover the extra cost of shipping to here.

Really appreciate what you are doing here.

Cool Idea! I reckon DICE pots or Waterblocks/NB-SB Blocks would be best!

Got a to-scale layout of the card? I'd need that in order to draw it up in my program.
