COD WaW card down-clocking?

397 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mtbiker033
I reinstalled COD WaW and it plays fine for awhile but I will get a short period of lag and then notice my cards have downclocked to low power 3d settings. The only way to get them back to normal is to reboot my pc.

I tried reinstalling my drivers (uninstall/safe mode/driversweeper/reboot/reinstall).
Updated directX.

This time it lasted for almost an hour before happening again. I'm using 190.62 whql drivers.

Anyone else have this happen or know of a fix?

normal gaming clocks are: 713/1512/1215 btw

are you sure that they are not overheating? make sure you set your fan at 100% speed and maybe try to lower your core/shader clocks.

when I'm gaming I always set fans to 100% with evga precision profiles, max temp I saw was 52 C. I could try it at stock clocks and see if it happens but I play any of my other games at the 713/1512/1215 with no problems including COD4. I'm going to reb00t and try it.

thanks!

Are you sure its not downclocking from a driver failure. That's what the cause is for whenever my card downclocks and won't go back to performance 3d clocks.
update-

went back into WaW and this time with stock clocks and my fps was the same as when overclocked and no weird downclocking or WaW stopped responding messages!
